CAN I MAEKZ MATEZ?!?
aka The Reason Dakota Took Her Characters Off The Market.
Seriously guys, I like sharing mates with someone else as much as the next person, but it's just too much now. You know when you're on Youtube and there's that one person who writes 'first comment!' That's essentially what this has turned itself into. 99.5% of the time I look at a new character, there will always be someone asking to make a crush/mate/cubs for them. And that's fine, when the character is fleshed out enough, not when it was put up five minutes ago.
Not to mention once the characters become mates, they essentially become baby factories, and their babies become baby factories, and rinse and repeat.
I'm not targeting anyone specifically, and I know many have said their points on this for a while now, so I felt it was my turn to put my two cents into the matter.

Thanks for the points! I do enjoy making mates for my friend's
characters, but I agree with what you said when it's your own two
characters ;3 The only thing I really hate is being bugged about it,
it just spams up your character's pages and it's really annoying xD |

MountainLion - Ten points for you! xD You seriously nailed all of how
I feel about this in one big paragraph. And I know, you would think it
would be worse on Balto, but nooooope. And I absolutely agree with you
on making mates for friends if they ask. Because how are you supposed
to know if they even want a mate for their character? Maybe they want
to make their own because they have their own intentions behind it.
Not to mention there's more freedom to doing that than sharing with a
person because you want to make sure it's cool with that other
person. Not to say, again, that I don't like making mates for my friends's characters when they ask because I do like sharing pairings xD But it's so less troublesome when it's your own two characters. Okay, need to calm down, this is long enough already xD |

I 100% support this. It's completely out of control, and it seems to
be worse on this site than on Balto Source (which I thought was
impossible XD). I don't go around asking people can I make mates for their characters, because as much as I might like the character, I still want to give the author their own chance to make their character's own mate, because seriously, most of the time it works better, 'cause nobody knows the character like it's own author. The only time I ever make mates for other people's characters is if I am actually asked by the person, I never ask them. I also receive some of the comments on my characters, and it really is annoying. It just seems to be an on-going bandwagon that cannot be stopped. It's so annoying XD I honestly prefer to make mates for my own characters, and that's usually how it ends up XD |

Hana Saku - I'm the same way. Unless you ask me if I would like to
make a mate for your character, I never go out and outright ask
someone if I can make a crush for their character xD *shrugs* And
thank you! Fallen (alright if I still call you this? xD) - YES. I can't. Just because you think my character is adorable doesn't mean that he/she needs a love interest. It really is annoying... |

I SO get you, Dakota. (It's Fallen, by the way XD) This "Can I plz
maek mate cuz I wanna cuz he's so adorable if not that's ok:3" thing
has really got out of control. And, the most fun part is, when you say
no, they're like "Awww but I wanted to maek teh mate  " ...-.- it's
just so annoying. |

Nama - Don't worry, you're not the only one. My biggest issue with
this, besides the fact that I may have already had plans for this
character, is the competition behind it. It's like 'oh I gotta beat
someone else to it!' And then just leaving it at that, and having
NOTHING done with the couple afterwards. Like I said in the

I understand how you feel Dakota, I feel the same way when I get a
load of those comments and especially when I've already made plans for
that character. It gets very frustrating VERY fast. I'm just glad I'm not the only one who feels this way. |

Gruvu - Yeah, it's just a bit TOO much... Claire & RainbowMegan - Guys, I'm not trying to target anyone personally concerning the matter. This is all just a general standpoint on the matter, and I'm sorry if it sounds like I'm pointing fingers at anyone in particular. That's not what I want to do at all. Rebekah_the_Lion - Thanks! And I taught myself xD I started drawing on Paint about seven years ago and have just improved and developed my style since then. Even though I wouldn't even say this is my best drawing xD It's actually quite lazy. |
