Theory
Chumvi lay down in the grass with his mate and son. He loved his family with all his heart, yet he felt a small tugging inside as if this was the last time they would be happy.
Kula looked at Chumvi and then down at young Kavu. He seemed so happy.
Kavu was overjoyed to be out of the crowded Pride areas and with just his family.

Right, my theory. Chumvi and Kula are Kovu's parents. Reasons for the different parts of Kovu's looks come from mutation (C&K have weak genes) or from genes from grandparents.
Once they are out walking as a family in the next few days, they get attacked by Zira who takes Kavu (as he was called by Chumvi and Kula). She hears them calling Kavu, but mishears it as Kovu, hence the name sticks.
Zira takes Kavu in order to please Scar. She is devoted to him and he doesn't like the cubs she produces. Nuka was too weak and Vitani was a girl, so Zira's last chance for impressing him was to take someone else's cub.
She chose Kavu because he looked strong and even looked a little bit like Scar. Scar was impressed and so Kavu became Kovu.
No-one ever realised that the harsh, brave Kovu once used to be the innocent, timid cub Kavu.

Nice theory and a nice drawing! Good job  Just by the way,in
Croatian coffee is accually kava,but our grammar is complicated and in
one of noun cases kava goes into kavu (look here if you want to see
how:

Thanks! Kavu actually means coffee in Croatian, which I think suits
his colours! |
