Please no one laugh at me for asking a question like this, but I'm just a bit confused at the moment. I always thought Tama was a boy, because the name 'Tama' sounds like a boy's name, and Tama has a small tuft of hair, which looks like a mane starting to grow. But I then looked on a fanart website at a picture of a lion king family tree, and on it, Tama is shown as a girl! If you want to see the picture, the link is at the bottom of the page.  

I'm not sure if it's just the artist who made a mistake (the artist made a few other mistakes as well) or if I'm the one whos making the mistake. Please help?

Well, Tama really is a girl as she has no whiskers and is adressed as a female in the comic she was in, in its original german text. But there are a couple of people who think she is male so you can belive what you like.

I don't know about the names. That family tree picture is mostly just fan conjectures, though, not cannon. For example, it shows Nala being Vitani's mom, which makes for some cool fanfic plotlines, but definitely isn't proven.

Some lionesses have a tuft of hair,but it doesn't mean it can actually be a mane,Vitani is a lioness with a hair tuft,so I guess Tama is also a lioness. Hope this info helped you. --Aloha Aleu
