He died because he fell. It was from really high so he had no chance
of survival and he probably got run over by the stampede also.

i always thought it was a mixture of both the fall and the stampeed
mufasa was a huge lion, he fell on his back but simba found him on his
side. I figure, the fall broke his back and if he wasnt dead from the
impact the left over stampeed took care of the rest snapping his neck.
Disney did alot of things but blood in a pg movie was not likly or
needed the elder kids understood and the young children didnt need to
see it.

He was trampled and fell from a great height onto hard
ground. Some of the wildebeest horns might of stabbed him as
he did fall on them...

he probably broke his back

well, it was a kids movie and i'm pretty sure no kid would
want to see blood and guts all up the walls they probably
just said that he was crushed or, as princess-kiara said, it
was the impact of the fall.

i wouldn't say that he would be bleeding, it's just the
impact of the fall which made him die
