I think Kiara is a better character in the movie.

I've heard a weird rumor once that disney didn't use Kopa
because they had gotten complaints that it was "sexist". I
know that sounds far out(I didn't make it up!), but is it
true?

The story would be pretty boring if it was about another
male growing up,plus,it would have to be a little
different...Kopa would NOT wanna fall in love with
Kovu!!!LOL!!!

I agree Although if Kopa had been used perhaps Vitani would
have taken over Kovu's role in the story.
