I am planning on making a AU siries about TLK, and this is what I was wondering; I would need to make the characters different from their original selves for this, so could I post my own versons on the characters or would I have to use the movie ones?

Just use the ones already made, I would say. It's still them after all, just AU.

I should have added this to the question itself but even if one or more of the characters is gender-bended for the story?

I'm pretty sure it is has been done before, but I'm not completely sure if its still allowed. I can't seem to find any of the AU versions I've seen before, so maybe not
