The morning report was in the special edition version of the movie.

Seth: Actually it was the special edition I think (Although I have a platinum edition OF the special edition aswell as special edition). On the front of the special edition it says something along the lines of "New Song!", I'm not sure if the platinum does though.

As I said, it was discarded in original development, but that does not mean it did not pop up somewhere else. It appeared in The Lion King stage musical, which debuted in 1997. So yeah, I guess it was used before 2003, but as far as I could find, that was first time it was released in the movie itself, but I could be wrong.

Yeah, original release did not have The Morning Report song in it. The Morining Report was one of discarded songs in TLK development, but got featured in The Lion King stage musical. Latter it was picked up again and implemented in 2003 Platinum Edition home video release. At least I think that is where it was first featured outside musical.

The first one was the version first released. The one wath morning report was a special edition version I think. And you can't have a special edition without at least one change, so the change was the morning report song
