While reading a big cat fact book recently, I saw a picture of a mountain lion. It had a very distinct stripe down it's back, ending in a point on it's forehead just like Zira. I was thinking that maby Zira is a mountain lion or Disney got the idea for her design from mountain lions. What do you think?

I think Zira is more a desert lioness cause of her furcolor is more like a sand color.

I doubt she is mountain lion, if I am correct they do not live in Africa and in TLK universe is centered around Africa. So I doubt authors ever had mountain lions in mind.

I KNOW the Sahara's a desert. The outlands are a part of the Pridelands, but nobody lived there. They became barren. Simple. Lions couldn't survive in the desert. A desert lion is a type of lion doesn't mean they actually LIVE in the desert.

Yep. Read it on an artical. Look at Zira. She's a desert lion. She's an african desert lion! And Kopaisreal1, those are the OUTLANDS not the desert. As far as I know there are only deserts in Egypt, Austraila, and like 2 tiny parts of America. I think that you're getting the Savanah and the Sahara confused.

I'd say Zira's a desert lioness, because of her colour. But, most of the characters in TLK are African lions. Well all of the chars come from Africa, I guess. But, as far as I know, she's a desert lioness!

I think she could be a Dessert lioness or a Mountain Lioness, there all lions at the end of the day

Or, before the movies, they both could have been born in kingdoms in the desert. Note I said 'kingdoms'. Plural.

Sarabi does live in the Pridelands, yes, but for all we know she could have been born in a kingdom that lives in the desert. Same with Zira. All this before the movies.
