When Scar has Simba dangling off priderock Simba manages to jump up, onto Scar. Why couldn't Mufasa have done that when Scar had him dangling off the edge of the gorge? And I would have thought it would have been easier for Mufasa to jump up  because he had something to push off from - the cliff. But Simba had nothing to push off, the ledge he was hanging from was an acute angle (smaller then a right angle). I'm confused!  Please help me!

Because Mufasa was exhausted due to saving Simba, possibly he could be hurt due to running in stampede. And he was in shock. Sure he knew Scar was not good brother and all, but he never expected Scar to kill him or Simba. In combination of all, he just could not react like Simba did. Also since Scar admitted that he killed Mufasa, whole weight of bad memories and guild was lifted off Simba, which gave him more strength and determination.

That's a point. Mufasa probably got injured down and then he had to climb all the way up. He was tired, that's why he wanted his brother to help him.

Ithink that Mufasa wasn't strong enough, 'casue you saw the way he climbed up the gorge. It looked likee he was really weak. That's why he didn't jump up. He'd probably been injured by a wildebeest.

When Scar confessed to Simba that he killed Mufasa,a flashback of his cubhood went off inside Simba,causing him to leap up from the ledge,despite the fact that Scar,had both Mufasa,and Simba at his mercy,on the other hand,Mufasa was indeed exhausted from having to climb back up the cliff,hence why Scar was able to throw Mufasa off the cliff,and not Simba. -Celtic Kate
