pridelanders betray Simba?

Question :

Near the end of TLK when Simba and Scar are battling I noticed something really wierd. When Scar is closing in on Simba and he's getting closer to the edge of the priderock and when he's actually dangling off the edge of priderock, how come none of the lionesses tried to help him? Sarabi and Nala just stood there watching the scene. And you might say that they didn't care because they thought Simba had killed Mufasa, but did they really believe that an innocent little cub would actually delibrately kill his own father? Then they were suddenly all helpful when Scar admitted it was him who had murdered Mufasa. I just think It's really strange, what do you think?

Best answer :

They were shocked and they felt betrayed by Simba. After all Simba alone admitted that he was responsible for death of his father. So yeah, they did not want to believe it, but they had no prof saying otherwise. They knew he did not kill him directly, they knew stampede was reason for Mufasas death. But they did not know what was Mufasa doing there or why, nor any other details. And that prevented them to act. But after Scar admitted it they quickly figured he was the one who set whole thing up, including to blame Simba for it.

In that last bit when Simba is dangling, Nala says " SIMBA!" and steps forward. By the look's of it, Sarabi tried to stop her. Like Mouse101 said they where probably frightened. Nala alway's had faith in Simba. When scar admitted it, he was deffenceless so it was easy for the lionesses to attack, before that, he was armed.

It might just be because they were frightened and when Scar told them it was him who killed Mufasa, they were furious and because they loved Mufasa so much, helped in the battle. It's just a suggestion, but it's a start.
