Well, Zira always wanted Kovu to be king, right? Well, he did become king. Wasn't that good enough for her? I mean, she wanted Kovu to be king, and he became king, right? Even though he didn't kill Simba, he still wasn't so friendly to Simba in the past.

She was not in it just for Kovu to be king. She was in it for revenge
too. She blamed Simba for Scars death and she would not just watch
Simba walk away. She was all about hostile takeover, to kill Simba for
revenge and so he would not be able to reclaim his throne. |

Or maybe she wanted Kovu to be a cruel leader like Scar but he wasn't
so she was annoyed. Or it could be that she could see that Kovu would
want to rule alongside Simba and she didn't like that...? |

well she didn't know he would become king, she died before she saw
that happen. and then again it wasn't so much that she wanted kovu to
become king just for the sake of being king, she hated the
pridelanders and wanted them all to pay, and she hated simba she
wanted Kovu to become king so that he could Kill simba and Banish all
of the Pridelanders that that the Outsiders could take over pride rock
themselves. |
