yeah they go home, but peeta now has an artificial leg. In the second book that i've started they're in trouble for trying to commit suicide in the games so there was no winner.

Okay thanks so basically they go home but they are severely injured?

well, in the book katniss and peeta are driven to the lake, where they find cato running towards them, but thats only because he is running away from muttations, which are mutated wolves the capitol created. She figures out the muttations are made out of humans and the bodies they use are the dead tributes. The mutts get to peeta's legs are bitten by the mutts. Cato almodst strangles peeta, but they end up throwing cato off for the mutts, and after the mutts attack him they finish him off by shooting him. Afterwards they go to the lake where they try to poison themselves i.wiyth nightshade berries when they find out 1 of them has to kill the other, but then the capital changes it so they both win. In the end peeta collapses and has to get his leg replaced with a fake 1, and they are in trouble for trying to poison themselves and peeta thinksmthe whole love thing was real, when he finds out its not he gets upset. it is left with them about to get off the train in district 12, about to face a punishment like i dunno an execution? who knows
