The Lion King contests
Turn it into a Lion *Contest Ended*
Windhowler
The Aim of the Game:
To create the most interesting Lion King character design based on another animal
and give it an interesting relation to the Lion King Universe (See ****Extra Challenge**** below).
Dos and Don'ts and Other Info
Preferably do not use inspiration from another feline species - there wouldn't be that much difference or originality. The more different the species the better - I find birds and bugs the most fun and interesting.
Do be creative - be clever with how you use features and markings.
You don't have to copy the species' build features and colours exactly - rather, adapt them to suit a lion of the Lion King universe. It can be unrealistic, but not too unsual - for example, instead of giving them butterfly antennae, create a hairstyle that looks like butterfly antennae.
If there are any colours on the species that would be considered 'Sparkle' for a lion (such as bright and neon purples, greens, blues, etc), rather than use them as they are, mute them down to be more natural-looking pelt colours. Some colours could just be slightly based on the species (E.g flamingo colours made to look more peach-coloured).
Do create lion designs only - no cheetahs, leopards, other felines including weird hybrids, please.
* 4 design entries per person
* Both art and renders are allowed.
* Along with the picture, please state what animal you are basing your design on.
* Optionally, post a photo of the animal.
(Be sure to give/keep credit for all bases/photos you use
- **** EXTRA CHALLENGE - PLEASE READ! ****
Although the character design you create is simply that - that is, you do not have to create a page or bio - he/she must have a name and MUST have an interesting relation to the Lion King Universe. Just a one- or two-line explanation as to how and who they are connected to - but you must not go for the easy options, such as an official character's mate/cub/crush/bestie.
Type 'Savannah' in your entry comment or put it on your entry picture, to show you've read these rules!
Winners!
The 1st Place will get an animated picture / animated scene of one of their characters.
2nd Place will get a drawing of one of their characters
(I myself will choose each of the winners' characters to animate/draw as a surprise prize :) )
Deadline: 21st September.
Bear in mind this is a very short-running contest, so consider not taking too long on your design entries
(they can just be roughly done if needed).
Have fun!

Animal based on: Skunk
Relation to the Lion King: She had an encounter with the Hyenas, when she was a cub, and was amused by the fact that she looked similar to them. Shenzi became close friends with her.

Real interesting bio too!

Relation to the Lion King: Mpaya was born near the pridelands, and often found herself singing along to Simba's songs, from afar. She was one of the only outsider lions, who did not join the pride, during Scar's reign, waiting until Simba returned.

Okay, here's my last I suppose. A young lioness who looks like a Red Panda.
Name: Raetari
Relation to TLK: Raetari was born in the Elephant Graveyard. Her mother (who had hidden her daughter in a safe place) was unfortunately was attacked and killed by a huge pack of hyenas.
Raetari was found by two elephants, the mother was called Ashtaa and the daughter, Belee.
Ashtaa's mothering instincts took over and she decided to adopt Raetari and took her back to the herd.
(Not the best bio, but anyways . . .)

Keep those entries coming!
Name: Masoto
Relation to TLK Universe: Was Ahadi's old advisor. Worked for him until he grew too old and decided to retire and go off exploring the rest of the lands with his mate.

Name: Ichibi
Relation to TLK: Tama's little brother. Tama was quite proud of Ichibi when he was a young handsome cub, but when his mane started to grow, it grew in a crazy style that wouldn't change no matter what you did. Though she still loves him very much, Tama doesn't find her brother quite so handsome anymore.
I may do another entry or two sometime

Bulbasaur: Great! Does Kia have wings by any chance? Just wondering as really unrealistic features such as wings would not be quite what I'm looking for - however if they are an adapted feature made to resemble wings that's fine!

Here's entry 1!
A lion meant to look like a bat!
Name: Kia
Relation to the Lion King: Kia was a regular visitor to the pridelands, during Mufasa's reign. He taught her to feel more confident about herself, after she explained how she felt different. Her's and Mufasa's prides became allies, until Scar's reign.
