Corvus was born in the mountains ruled by the powerful King Malka. His kingdom was vast, and was home to many lions that had fled the Pridelands during Scar's dictatorship. Chumvi, Kula, Tama, Tojo, Mheetu, Mega, Sabini and Leo were some of the Pridelanders who came to reside in the mountains; however, the last three decided to return to their former kingdom when Scar was defeated.
Malka had won the heart of Tama, who was now his queen; Tojo's giant shyness and sensitivity had won the heart of Kula, Chumvi's half-sister. But Chumvi was painfully lonely - although he liked to tell the four winds that Chumvi didn't need anyone, the truth was that he liked attention and to be surrounded by those he liked. With his friends establishing families, the young lion was all by himself. He eventually fell hopelessly in love with a rogue while wandering around and took her as his mate. After some time, she soon found out she was pregnant and Chumvi was overjoyed to know that he would soon have a family. However, the happiness did not last forever. Her baby boy was born prematurely and she soon died during a complicated delivery. Chumvi was heartbroken and vowed to take care of his cub, who was born blind, with his own life.
Chumvi was extremely protective of his cub, whom he decided to name Corvus, as it was the name of a legendary lion that had also been a rogue like his late companion. Although Corvus loved his father greatly, such protection bothered him. He could not go out unsupervised, for his father was afraid that he would get hurt. But Corvus had learned to hone his other senses, sensing dangers and obstacles even when he could not see. The little lion, in time, had learned to make his father trust him.
Corvus was ambitious, and his dream was to be able to have his own kingdom someday. Already a young adult, he decided that he would set out to conquer his own territory and be a king. Chumvi, however, was very discouraging. He said that it would be very difficult, because of his lack of vision, and that he could easily be defeated and killed. But what Corvus didn't know was that Chumvi feared his departure, because he didn't want to feel alone again. In a heated argument, Corvus got into an ugly fight with his father and said that he didn't need him, nor his protection, and that he was already a responsible young adult who needed to take care of himself. He then left to seek his own destiny. Corvus left his former home in the mountains and a distraught father, who feared that he would never see his son again.- {Thank you so much, Sierra, for letting me have him!} -
