As a young teenager, Valentine has had a few girlfriends but none of them seemed right for him, until one day, Valentine met her. She was beautiful, Kind and being around her made him feel happy.

He was spending his day at the river that separated the Outlands from the Pridlandes, when he saw a shadow of a lionesse. She asked if he was lost as in was in the Outlands, and the outlands were forbidden. Her question made Valentine smile. Before he could answer, she insisted that he come to the pridelander side of the river so that he doesn't get into trouble. He did as he was told and introduced himself, and in turn so did she. Her name was Tiffu.

Things seemed to be different with Tiffu, he was happy. Valentine convinced Tiffu not to tell Simba about him as it would get her in trouble and they wouldn't be able to see each other anymore. Every day, Valentine would sneak off to the river to see Tiffu. His entire pride was obsessed with Kovu and fighting. Valentine however, didn't like fighting and was kicked out of the outlands.

Tiffu kept Valentine hidden in the Pridlandes as Simba would definitely not approve of him. Some years later, and Tiffu had become his mate. The two had a secret wedding and were very happy together.
