Basic Information:

Ketay. is The father of Tifu and Zuri (half sisters in the Defenders Universe) He grew up with Chumvi and Tojo he never spent much time with Simba, and it's said that he and Nala may have been distant cousins. Ketay was a shaggy cub who struggled to fit on, often tripping over his growning mane which would grow faster than his body would. Ketay was excentric, he liked fashioning himself fun things to wear out of leaves, feathers, vines, and even the pelts of his prey. Of course most of the other lions found this silly, so he would do so alone or with the help of monkey's and their useful thumbs. But it was hard to find much in the pridelands as most of Ketay's youth took place under Scar's rule. He was known for standing up to the Hyena's with quick-witted remarks, as they  loved to pick on the cubs.

As Ketay grew older, His long mane became his most desired feature and he was a bit of a heart-throb around pride rock. during Scar's reign however, Ketay was driven out with many of the other males when he finally came of age. He took with him two lionesses who had bore his children, they were no longer together as a couple but he cared enough for the safety of the mothers and his children and he had to move them.

Ketay ran into a former pridelander named Kanu, he remembered him being close friends with Scar when Ketay was a cub. Kanu offered them shelter with the Defenders of Legacy in their pride The Defenders Guild. Chumvi and Togo passed, stating that they wanted to be far away from any ties to Scar, they did not trust Kanu for he used to be his good friend. Ketay and the others however, went and stayed with the Guild.

Durring his time there, Ketay learned of the Defenders. He found it silly that they put so much intrests on the royal bloodlines, but he did believe in the Great spirit, so I offered his help where he could. which, wasn't much. He wasn't very good at hunting, but Ketay was always fairly good at healing and treating wounds, how to read the stars, and how to track. So, thats what Ketay did, he became  a time-keeper and a healer for the Defenders and thier pride. The Two lionesses with their new-born cubs were granted peace and safety during their stay.

When Ketay sensed trouble brewing between the fourmanes, he told the lionesses to flee with his cubs. Ketay hopped to follow shortly after but found himself recruited by Goma to help stand against the Three Manes who were corrupted. Ketay did his best, or rather he tried. but soon, a war broke between the leading Defenders and the Manes after the death of Skymane.

Ketay, wanting to see his cubs again, ran away before the battle, much to his shame, but he did not want to risk dying and not being there for his girls. Ketay wandered about the lands for months searching for his family. after all at the time they could not return to the pridelands. Along the way he made some unusual friends. A bad-tempered Elder Leopard called One-Eye, Ketay found him thin and frail in the jungles. Ketay asked him why a usually majestic creature looked so pitiful. One-Eye told him a cub and his friends had chased away his subjects, and that he was now alone and could not see well enough to hunt. Ketay admitted he was a poor hunter to, but was a site better at it then the poor leopard.

Ketay and One-Eye started to travel together, they clashed greatly but Ketay was always able to put One-Eye back in his place should he get to thorny and mean. One-Eye stays with Ketay as he had no family and in his old age it was good not to be alone anymore. While searching for his family Ketay and One-Eye came across an injured Leopardess resting on the ground. above her tiny roars sounded from the tree, a small cub above her. One-eye hushed the cub with a mean remark which woke the mother who tried to fight them. Ketay stopped her, and let them know that they were not enemies. The Leopardess, Yui Mori introduced herself and her cub Yue, she said they had gotten separated from her other Cub Yun Miba after getting cought up in a stampede. She said her front paw was hurt.

Ketay, with much protest from One-Eye, stayed to help heal the Leopardess and in return she joined them in the search for Ketay's family while trying to find her son.

 Without anywhere else to look Ketay returned to the Pridelands, He found his family well, Simba welcomed One-Eye, remembering him from his childhood, but he notice One-eye had changed a bit for the better, and he wanted to offer the old Leopard a place to rest for his remaining days. Yui left after resting to find her son, but asked Ketay to watch over her daughter who was to young to take with her safely. Ketay gladly let Yue stay with him, she Tifu and Zuri got along great. 

Ketay was finally home, but he always avoided having to talk about the Defenders ashamed of how he fled, that shames leads him to help anyone else he meets as best he can.

Species: Lion

Appearance: Slim and tone, and excessive amount of mane as his growth gene is a bit out of whack. his upper whiskers curl dramatically and his eyebrows curve up at the end. he is a pale tan with lighter markings and brown in his mane. Ketay's ears flop slightly and are a bit scruffy. He has pale yellow  on yellow eyes and a dark pink nose. his mane does not come all the way down his chest and is instead replaced by fluffy chest fur, also a product of his growth gene being out of whack.  When he gets much older (around the end of Simba's Pride) His mane gets cut to a shorter length.

Personality: Ketay is sassy, smart, and a bit of a show off. He moves elegantly and knows it, he is vain, proud, and keeps most other at a distance until he feels that they have good merit and mortals, otherwise non toxic. Ketay is open and friendly and isn't afraid to be himself, however he fully expects in the back of his mind that no one actually wants to be friends with him, and therefore greatly values friendship. Ketay is very emotional but covers it up with witt, comedy or sarcasm.  Ketay is a very active father and loves spending time with his kids and their friends. he often lets Zuriu put flowers in his mane.

Trivia:

• He is based off of the many light blond-ish lions, and my obsession with overgrown manes (obviously more dramatized here)
• One-Eye often calls him "Kitty" just to annoy him and others, funnily enough Kanu had used that nickname for Ketay while he was living in the Guild just to annoy him as well. though some genuinely pronounce it Kitty by mistake.
• His name has no meaning that I am aware of.
• "I don't need snuggles kindly don't touch me, its called personal space." is the line Ketay is known for during his early teens when Lions and Lionesses would come to see his long mane.
• Ketay cannot move fast otherwise he trips over his mane, there is a scene when Zuri and Tifu are older were Ketay asks a crocodile to bite off his mane so that he may run faster to save his children from outsiders in the events of Simba's Pride.

Character Summary - Universal Relation:

In short, Ketay, The father of Tifu and Zuri, left with his childrend during the middle of scars reign and sought shelter with the defenders. however the fled and got seperated once the civil war started between the Four Manes. Ketay while travelign to look for his family, found One-Eye the leopard and became traveling companions, along the way they find Yun Miba's Mother and sister and they join with them. Ketay then returns to the Pridelands and Yun Miba's mother leaves her daughter Yue with Ketay while she searches on for Yun.
