Personality: Intelligent and patient, Mae is well known for his great personal strength, and despite his grumpiness actually values peace and unity above all else. He is known to be a tough teacher. Mae is very level-headed but also protective. He is often blunt. 

Relations: six younger brothers, Shadowmane, Digger (one of his many former students). 

Basic Information: Growing up with as many siblings as Mae did, the lion learned from a very young age how to manage his temper and be patient to even the most trying of lions. Mae spent all of his youth looking after his younger brothers while his parents were away, but this constant caring for those younger then him helped lead Mae to the decision of remaining within the Defenders Guild as a simple pride member instead of becoming a defender himself. 

Unlike most of his brothers, Mae did not posses the same ability to handle delicate situations. Too blunt with his words and not nearly as invested in keeping the royal bloodlines going, Mae eventually found his calling in the form of training future defenders in the art of survival. 

Whilst training a new recruit, Mae found that the guild was being infiltrated by an unknown lion who was sneaking past some of the guards. Mae tracked down the lion, and as a punishment and warning, he gave him a scar on one of his eyes and bit off a chunk from one of his ears. The strange lion swore to one day get revenge, but was soon after driven out of the territory by Mae and his younger brothers. 

While not as devoted to the manes as most, Mae was still upset to witness them turning on each other and dividing up the guild. He did the best he could to aid three of the most prominent of the defenders take down Bloodmane, Shadowmane and Greymane. When all was done and over with, Mae returned to teaching once again and continues to stay out of the politics of the guild despite his brothers’ influence. 

Trivia: 

• his design was inspired by a beautiful calico cat that I saw. 
• His tail is short/bobbed. 
• He looks suspiciously similar to Shadowmane, and is suspected to be a distant relative. 
• He is a particularly large and tall lion. 
• He has overgrown claws. 
• He earned (most of) his scars through teaching, as he is known to go all out when training new recruits.
• He has the piebald mutation, leading to his patchy fur. 

Summary-Relation: In his younger years, Mae discovered that the strange lion was sneaking around the territory for the guild of defenders, and as punishment he scarred the lion and chased him away from the lands. The strange lion vowed vengeance on Mae but was soon after slain by Scar.
