So Salina set out on her own to survive until a pack of hyenas caught her stealing their zebra carcass. A young lion named Musa found her and forced the hyenas away and as they saw no food or water for miles, Musa and Salina walked together to find a better place to live. They traveled, day and night through the deserted land when Salina found orphaned cubs and decided to take them in as their own until they grew up. As the pride grew, so did Musa and Salina's love.

Time passed until the pride settled into the Grasslands, she grew to love the cubs almost though they were her own especially a determined cub named Lula. After a terrible storm, a little cub named Kopa washed up on the riverside. They took in the young cub to gain his strength, meanwhile never knowing his true identity as the lost prince. She loved to watch Kopa and Lula play together, she would sometimes catch Kopa stargazing at night all alone...always wondering what kept the sweet cub awake at night.

One day Musa returned from a patrol badly injured from a hyena attack and a fatal snake bite, she was saddened to bid Musa farewell and having to move on again from her home. Salina and the other lionesses walked in search of food when the hyenas attacked the pride and she was separated from Lula. Not a day nor night went by without thinking about Lula, hoping she was alive and well.
