He felt as if the scarred lion would come to destroy their way of life. So when this did happen he was heart broken when Scar's hyenas brought devastation on his tribe. During this attack he got caught by a hyena who bit off his front right leg. His sister took him away as quickly as she could to help him. During his time of need he was taken to see Rafiki, the baboom showed great sorrow for the cub's injuries. While recovering Wilbur asked the baboom to tell him stories about Mufasa which warmed his little heart. He wish to have met the amazing king...

But soon the two siblings had to leave and Aithne promised him that he could visit Rafiki when he could walk better. That aside they travelled for sometime until meeting Damien who accepted them in to the Trouville pride. Here he felt at home as he mingled with the other lions who were all different in some way. But as his sister said he headed off every now and then to visit Rafiki who helped him learn the ways of predicting the future by communicating with the spirits of the past. Since then the amazed cub has been trying to contact his deceased parents. He also met another cub called Cace. The two became good friends quite quickly and soon Wilbur was totally smitten with him.
