Story: Kasim hatched to a hornbill mother along with 3 other siblings, near a jungle like territory far from the Pride lands. One day when his mother was away, he tried to learn how to fly on his own and ended up falling from the nest, only to find himself surrounded by hungry hyenas. Fortunately he was rescued by a lion by name of Ngosi, the king of the near by pride, the Oasis pride. He took the poor little chick with him, and his broken tail treated by the pride's healer. By the time his tail had healed, Kasim had already become good friends with the king and queen's cubs, so it was decided that he'd stay in the Oasis pride, and so, he grew up along with prince Jamal and princess Leasha, and became a loyal and life long friend to the royal family. When he was a full adult and had learnt to fly, Ngosi thought he could actually be of good use to the pride's guard, being able to fly long distances and spotting enemies from a far, so he named Kasim his major domo. Kasim took his new duty with great pride, and swore to serve his king and queen the best he could. One day, prince Jamal came back to the pride badly injured, and told them that Ngosi had been captured by the enemy pride. Etana told Kasim to fly ahead and see if he would spot any sign of the king, the bird did as told and flew over to the Bloodbourne pride - only to find Ngosi being held in one of the caves in the Outlands. He quickly repotrted back to the queen, who then sent out a rescue party, and eventually the king was safely brought back to the pride.
