Personality: Graesin can sometimes come off as a rather awkward lion who is not too charming with his words. He’s got a one-track mind and tends to become consumed by whatever it is he is doing. Graesin is a very curious lion who enjoys a good challenge. He is always getting into strange situations due to his curious nature. While not particularly aggressive, Graesin can very quickly become cold and resolute. He is a very logical lion that rarely if ever acts on emotion. With those he cares for, Graesin is both sarcastic and a jokester. He has a habit of playing pranks on any lion who piques his interest and the first response to ever come out of his mouth is always a sarcastic one. His older brother in particular is not too found of him as he views him as being too childish. Graesin is a very helpful and thoughtful lion. He enjoys sharing his experiences and knowledge with others. Some think him too kind to be commander of the guard, but his compassion has come in handy on many an occasion. Graesin can be somewhat reserved around those he does not know and as such is not always too forthcoming about his feelings.
History: Graesin was born as the second prince to his parents, alongside two of his sisters. The young male grew up surrounded by cubs due to the large pride he resided in and the fact that his parents wanted many heirs. As only the second oldest, he was often left in charge of cub sitting, a task he never once enjoyed. Despite this he never complained, knowing full well that he was helping many of the lionesses who had more important duties (such as hunting). This caused him to dislike most cubs, as he views them as disruptive and troublesome. As Graesin grew, his role as the future commander of the guard was chosen for him, despite his resistance to wanting to stay in the same pride. Above combat or all the other nonsense that his parents expected of him, Graesin loved studying the stars. He was always getting into strange situations and experimenting with random things just to see what would happen. He became especially good friends with the pride’s baboon. When his youngest brother was born, the pride’s baboon seemed to dislike the prince, and trusting the wisdom of the baboon, Graesin reacted to his younger brother as such. He rarely spent time near him and would often be especially harsh in his manner of treatment because he believed Nephelhein to be nothing but trouble for the pride. Into his prime, Graesin’s parents attempted several times to set him up with lionesses both from their own pride and from neighboring prides, but Graesin insisted against it. He felt that having a mate would be too much of a distraction for him, especially with his taking on a position within the guard. Not too long after his promotion, Graesin’s father passed away, leaving the kingship in the paws of his older, hot headed brother. Following the death of his father, his younger brother Nephelhein expressed interest in leaving, and Graesin was in full support, since he still wholeheartedly believed that Nephelhein was nothing but trouble. He convinced their older brother to let Nephelhein go, and the younger brother became thankful for the support. It was the first time in their entire lives that they had agreed on something. The trouble with Nephelhein’s leaving of course, was the defiance of the youngest sibling, Auni, who wanted to go with Nephelhein. Graesin was absolute in his decision that she was too young and forbade her from leaving. This left Aun extremely upset with her brothers. Several times after Nephelhein’s departure she tried to run away, and at each of those times she was stopped by Graesin and his guards. Eventually Graesin placed her under constant watch, which only served to fuel her anger towards him. Even his other sisters and brother became a little concerned with his actions, but he assured them they were for the best. Auni was too pure, too good of a lioness. He had no intention of seeing her follow their brother into whatever depth of darkness he would land himself in. When Auni became an adult, she left immediately to a neighboring pride. Graesin kept tabs on her, and even went to visit her in the pridelands. It was there that he met Kanya, the charming daydreamer. Graesin was smitten, though he did not know why. The two spent much time together on his visit, and when it came time for him to return, he asked her to come with him. To his shock, Kanya agreed, and the two left back to the mountain pride where they lived together. They never returned to Kanya’s home, although one of her nephews came to visit every now and then.
