Because of this her mother became increasingly protective of her. She was raised mostly by her mother with some help from the outlander lionesses. And as most cubs, she was courious one day and wandered to far from her mother running into a reddish brown lion whom she became fearful of, yet he did not harm her, he did not have time, her mother attacked him and learning his name was Mchumba, she became wary of the stranger.

Because of her past and male lions and what her father did to her mother, she did not trust Mchumba and soon he left, She didnt know why her mother looked so sad when he did. but one day on their normal walk around the territory, she and her mother were attacked and chased by a rouge, the rouge was taken out by Mchumba, but he was badley injuried and soon enough her mother invited him to stay until he was healed. Johari slowly began to trust him, not sure what was going to happen, but soon he became her mother's new mate and her step father and she slowly started to warm up to the idea of having a father figure.
