Appearance
Is fairly large for a buzzard, but smaller than her mate; has a chunky, sharp curved beak, long talons and narrow eyes with lashes; her head is crowned with a tuft, sticking forwards.

Has a predominately chalky-brown body, with her wings and tail being darker; her head is white, and she has a yellow beak and eyes.

Personality
A follower, loving and considerate towards her family; slightly scatterbrained in dire situations. Desperate to feed her chicks!

Joya and her family tend to avoid mingling with other birds; they have got a few acquaintances among the mammals.

History

She was born and raised in North Africa; to be more precise, in the Western Sahara, where Spanish was, and is, spoken. All the native buzzards in that area had Spanish names, and Joya was no exception.

Joya and her fellow buzzards were nervous of humans, but not to such a degree as to avoid them completely. In fact it was not uncommon to see her congregating with her family on the boughs of thick trees outside a village, on rooftops at the first or last light of day, or even (when they were feeling particularly brave) on the side of a haycart. Her family was extremely social, and 'buzzard gatherings' as the local humans called them, were frequent. However, due to being partial to eating small livestock (chickens, ducks, lambs, etc.), the buzzards were not liked very much at all, and many times Joya was stoned or shot at. She tried to be cunning, like some of the other buzzards, like her brothers, but she couldn't get the hang of it.

When she was fully grown, she became the mate of Yam, a dark buzzard from far south. She helped him choose a new, Spanish name (Audaz), as he wanted to fit into the Spanish-style culture. They loved each other dearly. Joya admired Audaz's bold nature towards humans; he would entertain her with his wily ways of catching little livestock through dodging their keepers.

After a few months, she went with Audaz to his birth area down south, to the Pridelands. There she entered a life to get used to, free from the danger of humans, but not from a new threat: lions . . .

Relation to TLK Universe
She also has a few rubbings with the Pridelanders and their allies, including Kiara's hunting parties who try to see her off their lands. Her mate also has connections with Nuka and other ex-Outlanders.
