Personality: Matope is a generally kind and caring lioness, who looks out for others, especially younger ones. She's the one to offer help to anyone who she feels needs it, which can lead to her seeming a bit naive, but she's more than capable of handing problems. As a young cub, she was rather energetic and loved to explore, however as she aged, she matured much more, so she's now more calm and level-headed, leading her to make less rash decisions. Now and then, she can seem pretty childish, but she's generally got a good head on her shoulders. She takes everyone's opinion into consideration, and values everyone and treats everyone equally. She's very family oriented, and loves living in tight knit communities where she feels she can rely on others. Because of this, she absolutely adores cubs, and would be willing to do anything to keep them safe. She's very selfless in this sense, as she'd risk her own life just to save theirs. At times, she can seem a bit ditzy, and has been known to be clumsy, but she has a generally good heart, and she looks out for everyone she can.

History: Matope was originally born out of wedlock to her mother and an unspecified rogue, who left soon after Matope was born. Matope's mother struggled with keeping herself and her cub alive and safe, and soon reached out to her brother, Chumvi, who accepted the two into his pride with open arms. He helped his sister raise Matope, taking on the roles that a father normally would. Growing up, she was surrounded by other cubs her age, and was well known as one of the most playful cubs in the pride at the time. When she reached the age of a teenager, she began training to be a huntress, much like the other cubs at the time, and many had hopes for her, since her mother was currently the lead huntress. However, her clumsy nature proved to give difficulty to hunting, and caused many to grow upset and annoyed with her. So, she asked to be switched to being a cubsitter, and excelled at this task, leading her to become a bit more respected after her hunting fiascos.

Chumvi's pride was known as a traveling pride, who didn't tend to stay in one area very long. They had gained permission from several prides to allow them to pass through freely, and they happened to be passing through the Canyon Pride's lands when a cub went missing. Matope quickly set off to find the cub, where she ran into a young lion named Desemba, who pointed her in the right direction. Once she had returned the cub safely, they found out that the pride would have to stop and rest, due to a pridemember getting seriously injured in the search for the cub. They stayed just outside the border, causing Matope to meet up with Desemba a lot more. The two soon became friends, and he later invited her pride to stay, to which they agreed. they later became mates, and she is now the queen of the Canyon Pride.
