History:
Lightning cracked across the sky, but inside the lions’ cave, everyone rejoiced as three new cubs joined the pride. It had not been that long since Nala had given birth to two healthy cubs, first a girl, then, a day later, a boy, and Tama had given birth to two female cubs. Kula had given birth to three cubs today: Danasa, Nisajo, and Sina. She licked each of them lovingly as they suckled on her for her warm milk. Kula and Tojo, the cub’s father, knew they would grow up to be strong and valuable members of the pride.
6 moons later, Kopa, Kiara, Auna, Diana, Sina and Nisajo met under a big tree out in the field. “HEY GUYS!” exclaimed Nisajo. “I got a great idea!” The group of cubs groaned. Lately, Nisajo’s “great ideas” had gotten them in a lot of trouble. First, he’d dared them to climb the Big Tree as fast as they can. That had resulted in Danasa spraining his paw. That’s why he wasn’t joining them today. ‘Oh well.’ Nisajo thought. He didn’t like his brother very much anyway. Danasa was always such a jerk to him! “Come on guys!” Nisajo continued. “Let’s check out the Outlands!” “I don’t know, Nisajo,” said Auna. “The lions that live there are pretty dangerous, from what I hear.” “My sister might be right,” said Diana. “We shouldn’t take any chances.” “WHAT are you talking about?!” Kiara exclaimed. “I’VE been there!” “Yeah,” said Kopa. “Let’s go!” “You can go if you want,” said Diana. “But we’re staying here.” “Not me!” Sina said. “I’m going with you guys!”
When they hopped across the log over Crocodile River, Nisajo smelled another cub and looked around. And then, something caught his eye, and he was staring at the most beautiful she-cub he’d ever seen. She had sparkling blue eyes, a large tuft of fur on her forehead, and beautiful golden-brown fur. Apparently Kopa had saw her to, because he was staring in the same direction, eyes wide. She padded over to them. “Hi,” she said. “I’m Vitani. That’s my brother, Kovu.” Nisajo look over Vitani’s shoulder, and saw that’s slightly smaller, brown cub coming out on the bush. Kiara lunged forward. “KOVU!” she cried with delight. “KIARA!” exclaimed the dark cub. They slammed into each other and playfully wrestled on the ground. “So, what are you doing out her? Shouldn’t you be with your king, eating the finest buffalo, princess?” She look right at Sina when she said that. “I’ll have you know, I am NOT a princess,” Sina spat. “I will be the lead hunter when I’m grown, and at the moment, I could probably take you with one paw tied behind my back!” “Is that so?” Vitani sneered. “Then prove it.” “WAIT!” Nisajo and Kopa both jumped in just as the she-cubs unsheathed their claws. “There’s no need for fighting.” Nisajo said. “What’s your name again? Tani, right?” She sighed. “It’s Vitani, but you were close” “Vitani,” Nisajo reapted. “Doesn’t that mean ‘Demon of War’?” “Yes,” said Vitani. “What’s it to you?” “Well it’s just. . . You look like an angel.” Replied Nisajo.
“Well,” said Vitani, as she gingerly licked her paw. “Looks can be deceiving. You couldn’t last ten seconds against me!”
“Bet I could!” So they fought. A minute or so later, Vitani had Nisajo pinned to the ground. “Wow,” she said, obviously impressed. “I didn’t think you’d last that long.” “Yeah,” he said. “You’re pretty tough. You know what? We should play like this more often. Wanna come visit us sometime?” “Yeah. That’d be fun.” Vitani replied. So they met under the big tree every quarter moon.
