Name: Oshaka (meaning 'shark') originally Kulinda (meaning 'she guards' or 'she protects')

History: Oshaka was born in a litter of three to the then King of the Jabali Pride, Asrar. Being the youngest, smallest and only female of the litter, she was rapidly palmed off to a pridesister to raise whilst Asrar focused on training his sons, especially Manzi, and this was something Oshaka never forgot.

Her mother left the pride shortly after her birth and Asrar only remembered he had a daughter when she reached her teenage years. Soon, he began planning who he would give his daughter to as a mate, the most likely candidate being his brother. Oshaka, however, didn't want to breed until she dropped and so she turned to her elder brother, Manzi, for help. The two were very close with each other and so Manzi hit upon the idea of Oshaka becoming a Jabali Pride warrior. Warriors were held in very high esteem within the pride and, most importantly, had to give up any titles they held which meant her father couldn't gift her to anyone.

The very next day, she declares her intentions in front of her father and pride (so as her father couldn't pretend to agree and then do as he wanted later). Infuriated, Asrar had no choice but to grant his daughter's wish. However, he made sure that for her training she was assigned the most ruthless trainer and instructed them to show her no mercy (as such, she got beaten and scarred multiple times but she toughed it out regardless) and, when she eventually graduated from training, she would be nothing more than a glorified guard for the royal family.

Then, only a few weeks later, her father was dead when he invaded and drove the Bahari Pride from their lands, killed by King Tarik in his final stand. Finally free of her father's attempts at control, she took the name Oshaka (for the great beasts she often spied when looking out over the ocean from the cliffs) and went about her duty guarding Manzi when he ascended to the throne.

Oshaka was at Manzi's side when their brother, Ugomvi, attempted to usurp the throne. He captured a lioness from the Oasis Pride (who then later escaped) despite already having a mate and son of his own. Eventually, he challenged Manzi openly and Oshaka and Manzi had to put him down, with Oshaka being scarred over the eye and Manzi eventually having to kill their brother when he wouldn't submit.

Eventually, Manzi took a mate of his own and had two daughters: Awiti and Tendai. Oshaka was given the duty of protecting the two princesses by this point as Manzi believed she would be better suited to looking out for them than for him. Oshaka took this duty very seriously, she would not let any harm come to either princess, not matter the cost.
