GIFT FROM SPARROWFEATHER
Name: Afua (meaning 'forgiveness')
Parents: Dwala and Hatua
Siblings: None
Mate: None
Cubs: None
Pride of Origin: Bahari
History: Afua was born not too long after the Bahari Pride resettled in their long lost territory and was only a couple weeks older than his second-cousin, Prince Obi.
However, not too long after his birth, Dwala took her young son and returned to the Pridelands with him. The reason? Her elder half-sister, Naanda, was planning a coup and Dwala wanted no part in it, despite Naanda asking for both her and her twin sister Diku's help. She was convinced that if she distanced herself from her sister and cut off ties then she and Afua would be safe from Naanda's madness.
Afua grew up amongst the cubs of the Pridelands including Prince Tanabi, whom he becomes fast friends with, but there was a problem with the cub. Many of the lionesses believed that he was the son of the not-too-recently-deceased Scar. He had the right look about him and was only slightly younger than Rickon, the son of Sarabi and Scar. When pressed on the issue, Dwala wouldn't say anything, either confirming or denying, which only added fuel to the fire.
The truth was, Afua's father was actually a rogue male named Hatua who took advantage of Dwala during the Bahari Pride's return to their old lands. He mated with her, promising to lend his aid to their pride in reclaiming their home, and then left again. Heartbroken and ashamed, Dwala kept her mouth shut.
When Prince Tanabi and Rickon both vanished and Sarabi was found dead, suspicion began to fly around the Pridelands. Dwala feared that because of the rumours surrounding his parentage, she and Afua would be suspected of having a hand in the crimes. However, much to her relief, it turned out to be Zira would was the true culprit which lead to the exile of her and her followers.
After this, the harrasment that Dwala and Afua faces only worsens. Convinced that as a son of Scar, Afua should have been exiled too and Dwala along with him, the lionesses hound the pair until Dwala can take it no longer. She and Afua leave the Pridelands in the dead of night and travel back to the Bahari Pride.
Whilst their arrival back is not the entirely happy reunion they were hoping for (having arrived back not too long after Obi's abandonment of the pride and Naanda's death), the pair are welcomed happily back. Afua quickly adaps to the life of his mother's birth pride, helping his uncle Kamaji patrol the borders and deal with rogues as if he were the prince. Kamaji comes to rely on him since his eldest son's disappearance and Afua couldn't be happier to have a place where his parentage doesn't hound his every step.
When Obi finally returns, Afua is firmly on Kamaji's side. He never knew Obi and so everything he had learnt about the Crown Prince, he learnt from Kamaji. To Afua, Obi is nothing more than a spoilt brat and a reckless young lion who would rather get his own way than be the prince he is supposed to be. What a pathetic king he would make! Afua is not impressed in the slightest.
When Shani comes to the Bahari Pride, seeking answers about her past, Afua decides to follow her.

Probably, I don't think Afua would approve of Obi's actions very much
even if he did know the truth but I imagine he'd be more lenient with
his opinion. I think you did say Kambo would be joining them. I think
Shani's pride could be fun to do. |

That's true, you can't really fault him because all he's heard came
from Kamaji. If he heard Obi's side of things, he'd probably still
think Obi an idiot (which he understandably is), but maybe not as much
of a fool as in the beginning? And right right right, I do remember
that. It was Shani and Jalali so far right? Now we have Afua, and I
think we talked about Kambo joining them as well? |

Nope, not in the slightest...but then again, he is hearing the story
from a biased source so I don't know whether to blame him or not.
Yeah, poor boy, I feel so bad for him. I remember saying that maybe
Shani could find some followers and I was thinking maybe she could
establish her own pride. |

Oh no Afua is not impressed by Obi at all xD I feel bad for this poor
guy, hounded after because of his appearance and assumption that he is
related to Scar for a good bulk of his life. He deserves to have the
respect he gains in the Bahari pride. Can't wait to see where
traveling with Shani will get him xD |
