Bio:
Fyang is born in the Grasslands, the birthplace of Queen Sarabi. She is the second of her mother's cubs, and the last. She is doted upon by her mother and sister, and is soon out into the world, playing to her heart's content.
She learns that Tama, an older cub now, makes frequent trips into the Pridelands to play with the future Queen, Nala. Fyang begs her older sister to be taken with her, but she is shooed away and ignored.
She makes a great deal of friends in the Grasslands, and her mother considers many possible suitors. When Fyang is old enough to understand her mother's descisions, she flies into a rage and tells Gwira that she refuses to marry without love. Her mother sighs and her only reply is to apologise.
When the day comes for Gwira to pick a suitor, and Fyang herself is a young adolescent, she tells Tama that she wishes to flee the Grasslands. Tama is excited by the idea and asks to come with her, when Fyang tells her she's going to the Pridelands.
When they arrive, they are greeted by the new King, Taka. He almost sends them on their way, but repents and allows them safe passage into the land. Fyang settles into the Ndona Pride well, and finds a friend in Nala.
She also excels at the hunt. She brings down many successful kills and is praised by her pridesisters. But one day, a terrible accident happens.
She is hunting a troublesome hartebeest when he kicks her in the eye. She is left to bleed out, and is only saved when Rafiki, the mandrill shaman who lives in a boabab tree, convinces Taka to carry her to his home.
She heals, but loses the use of the injured eye. She can no longer participate in the hunt and is useless when it comes to caring for cubs.
Her life is made worse when Tama leaves with a group of other adolescents.
Fyang falls into a deep depression which lasts until her early adul;t years. Of course, she has Nala to help her, but she can no longer function properly.
When Taka is killed by the rightful King Simba, Fyang feels a shred of hope. And as well as that, she finds herself in love with the new King - his blood red mane is enough to captivate any foolish young lioness. But he has chosen Nala, and so Fyang sits on the sidelines.
Then Simba approaches her in the night.
She is friendly towards him, and remembers to speak well of Nala and the rest of Simba's closest friends. The next few things happen in a blur. All she remembers is Simba sidling further towards her, then her memory is blank.
She births a cub a few days later, and is horrified when she learns (and can confirm) the cub is Simba's. The cub itself is a hermaphrodite, meaning it is of neither gender. She gives the cub to Nala's and convinces the Queen to lie to Simba and tell him the child is his. Then, Fyang will take the cub in the night and leave the Pridelands forever.
The plan works well, and in no time at all, Fyang is gone with little Fluffy. She goes to the Grasslands first, and reunites with her mother, who is overjoyed to see her. Fyang tells her the whole story, then Gwira offers to join her in her travels.
Mother and daughter go next to the Drylands, where the join the pride inhabiting the land. It is there Fyang meets and falls in love with Igeza, and later births his daughter.
Fyang lives to a well old age, then passes on, Igeza by her side every step of the way.
