Appearance
Typical (male) lion dimensions (as both cub and adult). As a cub has a single ''spike'' of long fur on head - this later grows longer, into part of his adult mane.

Personality 
Jot growing up was a very social and friendly sort, who tried to get on well with everybody. However, he was a bit naïve and this trait, mixed with his curiosity, meant he could be easily misled or persuaded. He had to pull up his socks when war broke out between his family's pride and that of an old enemy, Obbler; secret missions and battle training turned the young lion into a more responsible sort - although he still had a tendency to allow his eagerness to learn things  and to please others ( sometimes the completely wrong types ) get the better of him. Becoming a mature adult, and after run-ins with certain characters such as Lagiza the Weaver, Jot became more aware of his weaknesses and he could be rather suspicious and cynical - and somehow he came to detest flattery. Hurtful life experiences (such as the loss of family members) battered him badly and created a very deeply sad part of Jot's nature, which he learned to overcome through developing his faith in life and also through the love of his family.

Relationships with Other Lions
 Jot wants to be friends with everyone. He has a strong family relationship, enjoying time with his father and his sons especially. This trait is fading as he ages as life experiences make him (wisely) less trusting.
 

History
 

Jot is the son and eldest cub of King Jafiya and Queen Jet.

Jot and his two sisters were born during a time of dispute; Emperor Obbler, a neighbouring ruler, threatened to wage war against Jafiya, Jet and their followers; and eventually he did, winning after the majority of Jafiya's lions surrendered to join Obbler's pride. Obbler wanted to punish Jet and Jafiya by banishing them - after robbing them of their three young cubs. But Jot and his siblings were fortunately rescued by a party headed by Jafiya's friend Kudan, and so the three escaped being separated from their parents for the rest of their lives.

Jot continued to live with his father and mother during their banishment (or rather, their assumed 'death') in their new home, an oasis they had miraculously found in the middle of the desert; during this time of peace, round about when he was a teen, his little sister Tamura was born. Being the eldest, Jot believed it his responisiblity to look after all his sisters, especially Tamura; so it was a huge blow to him when little Tam wandered off into the desert and was thought to have perished. Jot was heartbroken and found the loss extremely hard to get over with, even though it wasn't his fault at all.

Later, as an adult, Jot was betrothed to a lioness called Rin. Soon after this, Jafiya and Jet relaunched the war against Obbler, who had been convinced up until then that his foes and their followers had died in the desert. During this second phase of war, Jot had to take on many responibilities, upping his game as Jafiya and Jet's eldest son and heir to their title. One of his given tasks was to go to the Pridelands and ask for their assistance - a tricky business, since the Pridelanders had been Obbler's  allies in th epast but so far, did not seem to be getting involved this time. As it happened, the Pridelander rulers, Kovu and Kiara, were not interested in being involved in anybody's war, having come across hard times. However, they allowed any of their lions who wished to join Jafiya's side, do so, if they believed in the cause. Through this visit to the Pridelands, Jot made friends with King Kovu. Kovu gave Jot much advice about becoming a confident ruler -  which Jot was anxious to be one day - he having been through a difficult time going from being the enemy of the Pridelanders to being their king! Jot and Kovu's friendship was to hold for life. ( It would be further strengthened when Jot's future cubs would give assistance to the Pridelands . . . )

Jot also became older brother to yet another sister - young Naomi, born about four months after the war began again. Jot felt tremendous responsibilty for his new sibling after Tamura's disappearance. He was not able to be around much, however, as he was chosen to spy in Obbler's lands. He made a few mistakes, resulting in being captured by Obbler's lions. As a prisoner, he came to discover (to his immense joy) his sister Tamura - she was not dead at all but had been saved and raised by Obbler's daughter Romy.

It was a job telling Tamura who she really was but Jot soon convinced her. Together they escaped Obbler's lands and returned to their family.
 

The war finally ended with the two prides uniting to form the Isu Keeney Pride (or the Pride of Peace). Jot's family and friends left their oasis to live in a new Isu Keeney home, a beautiful land of jungle and rivers and grassland. Part of the prides' unity was the joint wedding of Jot and his beloved Rin; of his sister Tamura with Jua, son of Jafiya's best friend Kudan; and also of Kudan's daughter Olea, with Zumaridi, Obbler's son.

Jot and Rin planned to start a family. However, the Isu Keeney had a threat to contend with; Lagiza the Weaver, a barbaric lion. He came to kidnap Jot and Rin in a bid to brainwash them (as they were heirs to Jafiya and Jet's thrones). The pair were in the keep of their enemy for months until finally, Rin's brother Ave arrived and the siblings freed all three of them, plus one of Lagiza's followers, Imani.

Finally, Jot and Rin were able to have their cubs. Drummer and Lynnie were born first; a year or so later, Kira and young Roscoe came into the world. Drummer and Lynnie, when older, became members of the newly set up Auni: the Guardians of the Isu Keeney, whose main aim was to eradicate the threat of Lagiza - who not long after Jot and Rin's escape, had been thought killed, only to reappear again.

Jot was at first reluctant to allow his two eldest cubs to become members of the Auni. he feared for his offspring, knowing the cunning of Lagiza too well. He only relented because of his faith in them. He also trusted in the strength and loyalty of the Auni.

However, his trust was soon rocked when Zeke, a member of the Auni, apparently turned traitor and killed Roscoe, Jot's youngest son. Jot was distraught and angry. Part of him disbelieved Zeke would do such a thing and part of him smouldered with anger, as he knew Zeke to be the son of weakminded I, Lagiza's old slave. He suspected Lagiza had a large influence on what had happened. Whatever the cause, Roscoe was certainly gone; no body was found - all clear evidence pointed to Zeke.

The united leaders of the Isu Keeney - made up of the royal couples, Jafiya and Jet, Obbler and Safi and Wavivu and Luna - ordered Zeke's banishment.

Prince Jot sunk into a devastated state, eventually blaming himself for Roscoe's death just as he had blamed himself for his sister Tamura's as well as other issues in the past. He carried on with life nonetheless, sad but determined to keep the rest of his family safe. Only very reluctantly he allowed his cubs Drummer and Lynnie to continue their avid search for Lagiza.

Months passed and Jot was slowly recovering. Slowly. The wound of losing a child was still deep.

However, the wound soon healed, happily. To Jot and his family's great joy, Roscoe was found to be . . . alive! He had been Lagiza's prisoner but thanks to Drummer, Lynnie and their friend Fresco the mole, he was rescued and returned to the pride, safe, although mentally disturbed after what he had been through. It took a long time for Roscoe's spirit to heal. Jot was patient. He had come to understand the healing process of the soul and the time needed to mend it. He had learned to have more faith - after all, had not twice his nearest and dearest had been taken from him, only to return to him, alive?

Jot is getting wiser  - and happier - as he ages; a happy, ever helpful father to his adult cubs; a happy son to the elderly Jafiya and Jet; and in due time he became a happy grandfather too . . . 

Relation to TLK Universe: He was born within territory situated close to the Pride Lands. Jot was a means of communication between the Pridelanders and his parents druing the Pride of Heart wars. Through this he developed a strong friendship with Kovu who he respected (and hey, why not, they both have cool quiffs?). Besides this, both his sisters Sula and Kyra have close friendships with Queen Nala and Princess (later Queen) Kiara, respectively, and his cubs were given special honours for their services helping the Pridelanders against their common foe, Lagiza.
