Bio:

Born in the Westlands as the daughter of a rogue, Jaris knew she would never be destined for anything special. As soon as she walks her first, her mother shovels knowledge of hunting and raising cubs into her infant mind, and at a young age she is already more intellectually developed than the other cubs of the pride.

When she is an adolescent, she meets a dashing young wanderer who steals her heart at first sight. She talks to him, and he appears to take a liking to her.

When she comes of age, she finds him in a cave with another lioness, and this breaks Jaris' heart. She confronts him and he flies into a rage, threatening to kill her. Fearing for her life, she flees from the land and becomes a member of the Ndona Pride, the group of lions that inhabit the Pridelands, home of the Emperor-King. It is there that she meets Mohatu, the Crown Prince, son of Empress-Queen Nusu. He courts her and asks that she be his mate and Queen when he is crowned. She agrees, overjoyed, and vows to be loyal and true to him for all her life.

When Mohatu becomes ruler, she and the King try many times for a cub, but Jaris has no luck. When the pair are beginning to get on in their years, a young lioness named Ingine is rescued by Mohatu. Jaris knows that Mohatu likes her, and she is furious, but she says nothing. After all, he is happy, and she doesn't want to steal that from him.

A while after, Ingine falls pregnant. Jaris knows that Mohatu and Ingine spent a few nights together while she herself was on nightly hunting duty, but Mohatu denies that he is the father when Jaris confronts him. It is long after this that Jaris notices Ingine rushing out of her cave, a young cub dangling from her jaws. She says nothing to Mohatu, who seems more upset these days.

When Jaris is beginning to grey, she gives birth to Mohatu's daughter, Uru. She dotes upon the child, as does Mohatu, and is overjoyed with her when she finds the young lion Kwetu on the border.

But when Mohatu is murdered by the daughter's of Mohatu's brother, she herself falls into deep depression and dies soon after, heart riddled with grief.
