History: Hiara was born a little after the Pride Landers and Out Landers joined together. Her mother, Baya, was an Out Lander and was supposed to marry Kovu. Baya and Kovu did have a small romantic relationship but Kovu was in love with Kiara. Baya, broken hearted and upset, ran away instead of joining the Pride Landers. She did not ever want to face Kovu again and her hate for the Pride Landers grew. She never told Kovu she was carrying his child so made it her plan to raise the cub on her own somewhere else. Hiari was born in the middle of nowhere, and raised only by her mother.
As a cub, Hiari was very energetic and a bit aggressive. She always wanted to play fight but the only one to play with was her mother, and she was often busy hunting. Hiari would go off and explore on her own, trying to create challenges for herself but even that got lonely. The small lonely cub was forced to create her own imaginary friends to play with since no one else was there to play with. Baya never minded Hiari going off on her own. It was clear from the start that Hiari was a strong and independent lioness. She would get into a lot of trouble, but was smart enough to find a way out of it. Baya was often worried about food, since there was very little of it out in the middle of nowhere. Hiari practiced her hunting on small animals and bugs, claiming that she would one day be the best huntress in the world and will be able to get food for her mother.
Time passed and Hiari grew into a strong teenager. She was finally able to hunt too and she was much more skilled than her mother. Hiari would travel miles to find something to eat. She was determined to provide for her and her mother. Baya and Hiari were able to find enough food for both of them when Hiari was old enough to hunt on her own. Hiari actually found hunting fun and exciting. She not only thought of it as her life job but as her favorite game. Baya was very proud of her daughter.
Hiari grew into a strong young adult lioness when Baya became ill. Hiari continued to do all the hunting and let her mother rest, in hopes that Baya will be able to fight off the disease on her own. Hiari grew impatient as her mother got worse. She feared the worst and asked her mother if there was any place to find medicine. Baya thought of the Pride Lands and decided it was time to tell Hiari. Baya explained to her young daughter about the story of her father. Hiari was clearly upset that Kovu would just leave them like that. She promised her mother she would return, and then set off on a journey to the Pride Lands in search of medicine and Kovu.
It was a long trip, but Hiari was able to get there. She noticed some lions by the borders of the Pride Lands and carefully watched them. She recognized one that fit Baya’s description of Kovu. Without even thinking, Hiari sprang into action confronting the lion. Kovu was very confused at first but Hiari explained that Baya was her mother and the past finally caught up to Kovu. He remembered everything about Baya, and how she had accepted his love for Kiara, but nothing he thought was true. Kovu explained to Hiari that he had no clue she even existed because Baya never told him but Hiari did not care. Her main job here was to find medicine for her sick mother. Kovu took Hiari to Rafiki, where she found the right medicine to help Baya. Kovu offered to come along with her but Hiari refused his help. News came to Kovu, suddenly, about a disturbance in the Pride Lands. He told Hiari tow ait for him but she wanted to come along and help. Kovu let her come along to help break up a fight between the animals and Kovu quickly learned that Hiari and him were not very different at all. It made Kovu proud to watch her help and he managed to convince her to let him come along. Hiari and Kovu went back to Baya only to find the worse. Baya was found dead and Hiari was heartbroken. She claimed it was her job now to look after her mother since she was an adult and she failed at her job. Kovu nuzzled Baya for the last time before telling Hiari to come live with him in the Pride Lands. Hiari would normally say no but she had made a bond with her father and loved the Pride Lands so she agreed.
Hiari lived in the Pride Lands with Kovu, where she met the rest of Kovu’s family. Hiari didn’t like Kiara all that much but the two managed to get along. She learned her half brother, Kipawa, was going to become king of the Pride Lands soon. Hiari and Shani, her half sister, took a liking to each other instantly and Shani showed Hiari the whole Pride Lands. Hiari and Kovu did a lot of catching up to do and had fun together. Hiari soon became very well known in the Pride Lands and a boy named Kgosi took a liking to her quickly. He began to do everything he could to impress or even just spend a day with Hiari.
One day, while out hunting, Hiari stumbled upon a strange open area. The ground started shaking, which was strange but she was still getting used to this very populated area instead of her old home. A stampede was making its way across the Pride Lands and Hiari was caught in the middle. She did her best to outrun it and she seemed to be winning, but Kgosi still felt the need to help. Hiari, of course, refused his help and kept trying to do everything on her own but the land was much different than what she was used to. Kgosi still tried to help but only made things worse when he tripped, causing Hiari to trip as well. The two were no in the middle of the stampede. Hiari found a small opening that could they could get through and out of the stampede. She pulled Kgosi along and the two weaved in between the rushing animals. They were pushed and knocked over multiple times but they were able to escape, finally. Hiari thanked Kgosi for trying and Kgosi apologized for getting in the way. Since then, the two were inseparable and never left each other. Kgosi was given the chance to see Hiari’s softer and sweeter side that only few get to see. He even stayed up all night with her, just to spend every moment with her. They fell in love and, finally, confessed it to each other. Hiari lives in the Pride Lands, with Kgosi as her mate, and her relationship with Kovu has gotten better. Hiari finally found a place to call home.
