Personality: Asha is very shy and quiet. She was never the one to take charge or speak out. Asha may not be the most social, but she’s polite and kind. She never forgets her manners and is always nice to everyone, even when they aren’t nice to her. Asha lives in her imagination, always dreaming her life would be like some kind of fairy tale but that always isn’t the case. She has her ehad up in the clouds all the time, and as a cub that was considered a bit odd. Everyone daydreams, but never as much as Asha. Asha didn’t mind, though. She always thought no matter how bad life got, she could always daydream about something better.
Likes: Daydreaming, Spending time with her family, Listening to Stories, and Quiet
Dislikes: Being teased, Life being boring, Being tricked
History: Asha was the third cub of Asante and Shani. She has an older sister, Sadira, and an older brother, Rashid. Shani and Asante were both wonderful parents, but Sadira and Rashid were always a bit of a handful. Sadira was always the leader, since she was the oldest. Rashid was more of the trouble making boy, who assisted Sadira in all of her adventures. Although, Asha was a bit different from her siblings, they loved her. Sadira, Rashid, and Asha were always together. They were pretty much inseparable. The three siblings did everything together, but were not alone. They had two cousins, Mweis and Nuala, who loved to play with Sadira, Rashid, and Asha. The three became a group of five.
One day, the five decided to go off and explore. They simply told Shani that they were going to play in the plains, but went much further than that. They traveled through the tall grasses, to the borders of the Pride Lands. Rashid and Mwesi were arguing, like usual. Sadira was trying to get them to calm down. Asha stayed close to her older sister, especially since she always looked up to her as a role model. Nuala was far in the back being distracted by noises. The other cubs knew they had to be careful with Nuala, because of her blindness, but that day they had more things on their minds. Nuala was occupied by some noises and was left behind. Asha stayed right by her older sister, not noticing her cousin was not there at first until someone asked “where’s Nuala…?” the four rushed to find Nuala, searching everywhere and retracing their steps. They eventually did find her, unharmed, but not before someone else did. Nuala and Mwesi’s father, Kipawa the Lion King, had found Nuala first. The four were in a lot of trouble for leaving Nuala alone, but were quickly forgiven.
As a cub, Asha was always daydreaming. Her father would often tell her fantasy stories, and she loved listening. Asha took on the role as Daddy’s Little Girl, which was something Sadira had trouble accomplishing. Asha and Asante were very close and spent a lot of time together when Asha was young. However as time went on, Asha became a little more adventurous. She looked up to her older sister Sadira and was even a little jelous of her. Sadira seemed to be more exiting and received what she wanted. Asha believed Sadira was living her fairy tale life, and it was only a matter of time before she found her own.
Asha soon grew into a beautiful teenager, though she did not consider herself good looking. Asha became more envious to her sister, Sadira, because she had found love. Sadira had ended up falling in love with a lion named Erevu. Asante didn’t approve of Sadira going out with Erevu all the time and Asha couldn’t help but agree. Her mother, Shani, completely agreed with the two being together and after Erevu saved Sadira’s life, Asante accepted him into the family. It wasn’t that Asha didn’t like Erevu, in fact he was very kind to her. It was just that Asha was kind of waiting for her true love to come, and save her life much like what happened to Sadira. Asha watched as her cousin, Nuala, fell in love. Mwesi and Nuala, once close siblings, were constantly fighting now. Rashid had even fallen in love, but it did not end well for Rashid. He had saved a young lioness’ life, but could not protect her from her family, who wanted her dead. Rashid’s love was dead. After his loss, Rashid spent more time Asha and they became very close. Asha also saw Mwesi fall in love with a lioness named Etana, and the two became the only couple Asha supported.
A lion soon came to the Pride Lands, asking a request from the king. The others in the pride were not sure what to make of this lion who asked for such a big favor, and they argued about what they should do. The lion was patient, however, and was willing to wait. He stayed in the Pride Lands for a week, and that was all it took for Asha to develop a crush. Asha watched the new strange lion from afar for a while, until her older brother pushed her to say something. She managed to gather up enough courage to speak to the boy. His name was Safi and he had come from a small pride far west. Asha and Safi began to spend a lot of time together. Safi encouraged her to along with him and explore the lands. While shy at first, Asha forced herself to come out of her shell and follow him. It was a bit strange to her, since before the only ones she had ever gone exploring with was her siblings or cousins. Asha fell further and further in love with Safi. He was kind and charming. She believed she had finally found her love. It wasn’t until the sixth day that Asha found out why he was being so nice to her. Everyone in the pride began to like Safi, and Asha had helped convince them all. Safi was sure that they would help out his pride on the seventh day of his stay. Asha and Safi were out walking but Safi seemed a bit more distant. She tried to get him to talk more but nothing had happened. Asha asked if, when he returned to his pride, could she go along to meet his family. Safi just rolled his eyes and answered “no” this shocked Asha and made her entire world just shatter. Safi believed he was going to get the Pride Landers to help so there was no point in pretending any longer. Asha had just been used to help the Pride Landers see him as a good guy so they would assist his pride in a war they were going through. The Pride Landers would normally want to help but the pride they’d be fighting against was larger and stronger so they did not want to risk losing their own. Asha’s heart was broken. In fact, Safi even had a girlfriend at the time. Asha had been used.
Upset, Asha ran off. She left the Pride Lands and stayed out in the middle of nowhere for the rest of the day. All the stories with happy endings that her father had told her were false. That never happened in the real world, and it would never happen to Asha. She suddenly realized what was more important. Asha wiped her tears away and ran to her cousin Mwesi, who had just taken the throne at this time. She explained to him who Safi really was and, for the first time, Mwesi was furious. He ordered Safi to leave the Pride Lands, for they do not risk their lives for liars. Safi left, knowing his plan did not work. Asha felt satisfied that she helped her Pride so they were not tricked. Her heart suddenly did not feel so broken. It was not love. It was all just a big crush. Asha learned that love is not the most important thing in the world. Her life was fine before it, and would carry on without it.
Asha grew into a strong adult lioness and, surprisingly, became a great huntress. She spent a lot of time with her family and finally stopped worrying about what others thought about her. She was happy with her life and that is all that mattered.
