History: Kala was the first born in a large pride. Her father was king, so that made her the princess and future queen. Kala was adored by everyone in the pride as the young princess. Her father, Abasi, was always protective of his daughter, but also trusted her. Kala and Abasi had a close relationship from the very start. They were just always together.
As a cub, Kala found a love for exploring and wandering around. While this worried her parents, they let her run off and have some fun. Kala didn’t mind going off alone. In fact, she preferred it. There was no one to slow her down. She had complete freedom and control, except for the biggest rule of all: Don’t cross the borders. Kala knew her father would be furious so she obeyed his rules, not wanting to upset him and ruin what they had. Kala was very popular as a cub, though she only trusted in a few very close friends. One day, Kala decided to let them come on an adventure with her. The three cubs wandered about the kingdom, looking for anything exciting. Sadly, they did not find what they were looking for so they decided to play wrestle a bit. The three wrestled together, laughing and squealing, when they accidentally chased each other past the borders. Kala and her friends did not notice right away, until they started seeing new things around them. Kala’s friends demanded they go back and Kala agreed but something caught her eye. She followed the strange noises to find a small male cub in the middle of nowhere. He was thin and looked sick, but she could tell he was breathing and there weren’t any cuts on him. Kala raced back to her father, and told him about the poor cub. Abasi acted right away, following Kala to the site of the dying cub. Her father quickly examined that the cub was dying of starvation and dehydration so they brought him back to the den right away. There the lionesses cared for the cub. Kala always made sure to check up on the lost cub, to see if he was doing better. Slowly the cub regained his strength and could speak again. His name was Mheetu, and he lived in the Pride Lands. When a lion named Scar took over the pride, everything turned worse. Mheetu was supposed to be killed, after he spoke out of turn in front of Scar but his mother, Sarafina, got him out of the Pride Lands in time. Mheetu was told to run as fast as he could, and not turn back. He did as he was instructed but could not find any food or water, until he was rescued by Kala. Kala instantly took a liking to Mheetu. The two cubs spent a lot of time together, just talking. Abasi took Mheetu under his wing when he could. Abasi taught Mheetu almost everything he knew, much like he did to Kala but she already knew everything. Mheetu quickly went back to being his perfectly healthy self. Abasi often took Kala along for lessons, and Mheetu came along to watch. Kala loved her lessons, and just spending time with her father in general. She was a quick study and very smart. Then, after the lessons, Mheetu and Kala would run off and play together.
Mheetu and Kala quickly became good friends, and they shared everything together. As time went on, both cubs grew into teenagers. Kala became even more focused on becoming queen, and could not wait to take the throne. Mheetu was still always there to have fun with her. They were still together. When Kala went on her first hunt, she was well prepared but at the beginning she noticed something was wrong. There were fewer animals than she had seen the days before. Kala explore the land, wondering what could cause it, but the surviving animals stayed quiet. Kala soon discovered a large group of hyenas, as big as her pride if not bigger, who were killing and eating more than necessary. Kala knew if this was kept up; there would be no food for her pride. She went and told her father, who was furious. He ordered all the lions in the pride to assemble and chase the hyenas away. Kala wasn’t worried at first. The fight between hyenas and lions were everywhere but when the lions charged at the hyenas, they did not back away like expected to. The long fight broke out but Kala reassured herself that the lions were stronger and smarter than the hyenas. The hyenas group was too big, though, and it ended up being worse than ever. Kala even was forced to witness the death of her close friend. Mheetu stayed by Kala’s side for as long as possible but even the two good friends were split apart in the war. Kala was surrounded, but Mheetu wasn’t going to let anything happen to her. He was outraged when he saw Kala alone with five or six hyenas. He charged at them all, saving her. Something changed in the way Kala looked at Mheetu after that. They had always been friends but the way he was angered when something could have happened to her sounded like the sweetest thing. The war raged on for what seems like forever. Both sides had lost many but the hyenas were soon reduced to only a small wimpy number. They fled the land. Their pride was free and everything returned to normal. Except for Kala and Mheetu. They started acting different around each other.
When Kala was old enough to take the throne, it was the happiest day of her life. Her father couldn’t be more proud. The kingdom was filled with peace and it seemed nothing could go wrong. When the topic of a king came up, Kala thought it was time to reveal her secret. She had fallen for the small weak cub she found years ago. Mheetu had felt the same way, for a while now it was just Kala did not notice. Mheetu was scared to ask Kala, since she was the future queen, though. Kala made sure to hang around Mheetu more, hoping to finally be asked but it wasn’t much of the normal old fashion way. It was during sunrise, Kala’s favorite time of day, when Mheetu and Kala woke up, side by side like always, and they simply looked at each other and both confessed their feelings. They let out all their secrets and desires. The rest was history. Abasi approved of Mheetu and the two were married as soon as possible. Kala gave birth to her son, Tai, and nothing could be happier.
Tai was Kala’s whole life. Tai was mischievous and wild but Kala loved him. She hated seeing him hurt or sad. Tai always had a better relationship with his father as a cub, because Kala often embarrassed him in front of the others. Tai grew up very quickly, in Kala’s opinion, and soon found himself falling for his childhood best friend, Jade. When Jade disappeared, leaving the pride and Tai, Kala’s son was a mess. Kala hated seeing Tai so upset, but reassured him that time could heal his broken heart. Tai was not so sure but when he took the throne, he needed a queen to rule by his side. His parents found a beautiful strong kind lioness, who loved Tai very much, named Nadia. Tai did not love Nadia, since his heart belonged to Jade still, but it was an arranged marriage. Kala hated seeing her son so miserable, but Mheetu reassured her that it was for the best. Kala and Mheetu helped their son rule the kingdom, before taking off and traveling to new places. There was a sudden break out of gangs in the kingdom, and Jade was found again. Kala was disappointed to find sweet and nice Jade involved in the gangs causing chaos throughout the kingdom but Tai was determined to win her back on his side. He discovered Jade was being forced into the gangs so Tai went to his mother for help, and she explained to him that if he loved her then he must do everything he possibly can to get her back. Tai took his mother’s advice, and ended up changing the kingdom for the better. The gangs were finally stopped, though the damage caused still put scars on the pride, but Tai was able to marry his true love. Kala and Tai’s relationship became a lot better and Kala couldn’t be more proud of her only son.
