He hates what his mother tells him and follows his father around wherever he goes. But, as he grows, he starts to see the light and opens up, becoming more like his uncle. He finally becomes a lot like his mother: kind, just and merciful. He starts to care about the future of the pride and is also that courageous to take up the matter with his father.
History: The death of both her son and mate hit Sarabi really hard. When Scar rose to power, she calmly became his queen. Scar wanted a heir to the throne once he passed away. So he mated with Sarabi and this produced Ajani. Seeing the tiny cub who looked so much like the king, Sarabi hoped that Ajani would be the one to save the land from Scar's reign of terror. Scar had begun to let the hyenas upon the land and had enforced pitiless laws as king. Much to Sarabi's dismay, Ajani turned to be a lot like his father. Scar kept him close to him as possible and tried to make him like him. He succeeded, leaving the other lionesses without hope. Ajani grew to be a bully to the very few other cubs, always tormenting Nala about her best friend dying. He never got what it was like having a best friend. His older brother Tojo, traumatized my the death of his brother and father, tried to make him change his ways, but without any effect. His mother also tried to reach out to him on multiple occasions, but he just pushed her away. Ajani became disliked by almost all the cubs in the pride. He soon began to feel lonely as he couldn't play at all. When he asked Tojo what the problem was, Tojo replied, "The other cubs don't want to play with you 'cause you don't know how to play with them." This sparked something in Ajani, hearing those words from his teenage brother as well as his mother. Meanwhile, Zira, who was completely devoted to Scar, planned to kill Ajani so that she could produce Scar's heir instead. Unfortunately for her, Ajani never went anywhere without protection. As Ajani sowly grew into a teenager, he began to see everything around him in a different light. He saw that his father's rule had turned the Pridelands into a dreary and murky kingdom. He didn't want a kingdom like this. But, something told him that before he could confront his father, he had to right all the wrongs of his. SO, he went up to his mother and brother first and apologized for his actions. Sarabi and Tojo were a little taken aback by the sudden change in his attitude, but forgave him. Then, Ajani apologized to the other cubs in the pride and started to take interest in what his mother taught him. Scar was stunned with his son's new behaviour and sought to change it, but Ajani had changed. Scar, in a temper, fired Sarabi and took Zira as his queen instead. Ajani was so angry at this, he went up to Scar and demanded to know the reason why he did this. Scar told him that he had betrayed him. Ajani angrily told him that he wasn't the one who had betrayed the Pride. In anger, Scar slashed Ajani's face, but Ajani ducked. Unfortunately, he got struck on his left shoulder, leaving a deep wound. "We all have our scars. Here's yours" were the last words Scar told Ajani before walking out of the cave. When Sarabni and Tojo found Ajani unconscious from blood loss, they were hysterical. Luckily, Rafiki was able to heal the wound, although it would leave a scar on his shoulder. He told Ajani that he was lucky it was a scar on his soulder, and not on his face as it would terrify the rest of the pride. But the biggest blow hit when Ajani discovered that Tojo had left the Pridelands along with his friend Tama, her mate Chumvi, and his sister Kula. What shocked Ajani was that his friend Cheza was also leaving with them. Ajani found comfort in Nala, who was saddened by the departure of her friends. Soon, Nala also came to the conclusion that she would find help, not "leave the pride like the others". She asked Ajani to come with her. Ajani denied it, saying that the pride needed him at the moment. Nala simply told him to be careful. Before she bounded away, she told him "Tell my mother I did this for her". Ajani hesitantly relied the message to Sarafina. He told her that he would be there for her son, Mheetu. Sarabi was surprised at this as she knew this wasn't the same cub she had back then. Miraclously, a few months later, Simba came back with Nala and overthrew Scar. When he found out about his half-brother, he confronted him about his trust. Ajani told him that even though he was the son of his enemy, they still shared the same mother. He also told him that even though he hated Scar, he was still his father. "I may have hated him for a long time, but he was still my father. That is something that will never change" were the words he told Simba. Simba, impressed with him, let him stay in the pride. Ajani thanked him and told him that he had been waiting for his return for a long time. The next day, the two bonded over a walk through the land. They each told the other about their personal traumas and the two stuck together, seeing as Tojo was gone. Soon after this, Ajani left the pride to seek out something new in life. And it wouldn't be long before Ajani would reunite with Cheza again. But this time, their friendship would have a different feel to it; a feel even he didn't understand.
