Was good friends with Mufasa when they were young, and even served with him in the 'Great Hyena War' during the Ahadi reign. Now, he's become good friends with Simba. Very good friends with Rafiki.

Personality:
Very strict, stern, Sargent-type. Runs his pride like a military unit. A real stickler for the rules. Yells a lot. Makes the insubordinate do push-ups. On the field and during the training of young lions, he's a General through and through. But when he's 'at ease', he's a very nice fellow, though he can be a bit rough when being affectionate (punching others and whatnot). Loves his boy, Kovu and missed him terribly. Listens to his top lioness, Matsumi (the wife, as he calls her) and never tries to argue with her (she'll kick his butt XD)

He always felt that Mufasa, though he loved him like a brother, was too soft for a King. He couldn't comprehend why Mufasa showed the hyenas so much mercy by just chasing them off the Pridelands. Ntchwaidumela shows no mercy to hyenas; he kills them every chance he gets.

Likes:
Everything to be in order, to be respected, to be the first to eat, training young lions to be warriors. LOVES killing hyenas, especially their matriarchs.

Dislikes:
Hyenas, insubordinate young lions, when 'the wife' yells at him in front of his soldiers, having to retire as King of his pride

Bio:
Ntchwaidumela is a born leader, was very tough as a cub, and garnered respect at a very young age. When he was a teenager, a great number of hyenas threatened the land, calling for young males from neighboring prides to join the Savuti Pride's 'army'. That's when Ntchwaidumela met Mufasa, as they were placed in the same unit. During one of the bloodthirsty battles, Mufasa was attacked on all sides and Ntchwaidumela saved him by drawing the hyenas to himself. He was viciously attacked by 40 of them all at once, but he miraculously defeated them all. The battle really tore him up, and his body was ripped to shreds by the ferocious hyenas. No one thought he'd live, and until his wounds healed, Mufasa stayed by his side, returning to the Pridelands only when Ntchwaidumela had enough strength to walk around and keep his food down.

He was covered in scars from head to foot, but his bravery and strength was renowned from that day forward, and he was given the nickname "Battlescar".

The nickname, scars and pelt/mane color being similar to that of Mufasa's treacherous brother are all unfortunate coincidences. Old 'Battlescar' has no relation to Mufasa or Scar. But the resemblance was enough to grab the attention of Scar and Zira, who planned on stealing one of his newborn cubs to raise as their own. Scar made Zira swear that she would steal only a male cub that had his same coloring, for his own son, Nuka was clearly too weak and unfit to follow in his paw prints and become king.

It was only a year or so after Scar died that Zira made her move. She had joined the Savuti Pride under the false pretense that she was a homeless nomad. Battlescar allowed her to join, despite 'the wife's' mistrust in Zira.

Once inside, Zira studied how Battlescar ran everything in such a neat military fashion. She also watched Matsumi very carefully and finally made her move when the cubs were born.

She stole a dark-colored cub the family had named 'Kovu', and the depraved lioness would swear up and down that Kovu was hand-chosen by Scar himself, despite the fact he'd been dead over a year. She even brainwashed Nuka into thinking that Scar himself was the one who took Kovu.

Battlescar was heartbroken that the cub was stolen, and he thought he'd never see his precious Kovu again.

Fast-forward a few years, after Kovu and Kiara were hailed as the future King and Queen of the Pridelands, word got out that the long-lost son of the great king Ntchwaidumela reached the ears of the Savuti Pride, and he set out with his pride towards the lands of his old friend, Mufasa. Simba didn't remember meeting the old lion when he was just an infant, but Rafiki's affection to the battle-torn lion confirmed that the strict king was telling the truth. Kovu himself is drawn to Ntchwaidumela, and is thrilled to learn that the impressive feline is his true father.

Simba reluctantly releases Kovu and a very pregnant Kiara into the possession of the Savuti pride, which prompts the retrieval of his lazy, vegan, hippy son, Kopa, who abdicated before Kiara was born, to take his place as king. Ntchwaidumela begins Kovu's strict training to be the ruler of the Savuti Pride.

He tries to help Simba out by taking Kopa under his wing for king-training, but even the famous hyena-killer is exhausted by Kopa's idiocy, and sends him home after only 1 day.
