Personality: Kalum can be shy but is fun-loving and out-going. He often spends time with Tojo, Tama, Chumvi, Kula and Malka instead of Nala and Simba. He also spent a lot of time with Aniweta and Adia, but mainly Aniweta. He can get offended easily and launches into a fight if he is annoyed. For Kalum's age, he is quite strong but usually he would rather not fight. Kalum also gives warnings sometimes before starting a fight so if you annoy him, it's your own fault. As Kalum grew older, he became more mature and his temper didn't rise as quickly as it did when he was a cub
Likes: The shade, his brother, Nala, his friends, his mate, his cub, Scar
Dislikes: Evil, being lonely, Scar, Zira, being away from his family
History: When Simba was a cub Sarabi was expecting another cub, who Simba did not know about. One day when Simba was out Sarabi had her cub, who she named Kalum. Mufasa knew that Simba might not like his baby brother so they decided to hide him for a few days. However it did not work. Simba woke up and heard Kalum crying. He looked over at his baby brother, who cheered up when his brother came into sight. Simba knew that Kalum was his sibling, but he loved the sight of the innocent cub, and offered to look after him when he grew older the next morning.
As Kalum grew, he got to know some of Simba's friends, but didn't usually go with Simba or Nala. He did have a crush on her, though, and he found it annoying when Simba ran off with her all the time, since he wanted Nala to play with him. But he continued with playing with his usual friends, but sometimes Kalum went to play with Adia and Aniweta. They were tons of fun, but Aniweta was a bit better because he didn't play as rough as Adia. Also sometimes Kalum went to see his uncle Scar. He loved his uncle so much, but then one day when Simba got into trouble for going to the elephant graveyard Kalum had a bad feeling.
The next day, Simba went with his uncle Scar and they were gone for quite a while. Kalum saw Adia run towards the gorge and he peeked over the edge. There, he saw a stampede of wildabeest, and Simba was running from them. He saw Adia jump down to help him but all that Kalum could do was watch in horror. Simba climbed a tree and Adia ran off to get help. Kalum found his paws and raced back to Mufasa. "Dad, dad, you have to come with me! It's an emergancy!" He insisted. "Not now, Kalum, I'm busy." Mufasa told his son. "But dad, please, there isn't much time!" Kalum insisted again, tugging at his father's tail. "Not now Kalum!" Mufasa yelled, holding up his tail, forcing Kalum to let go. "Fine then! There will be a death today because you wouldn't bother to help!" Kalum screamed, but he stayed there. Then Zazu pointed out that the herd was on the move. "That's the point dad, there's a-" Kalum began but Scar appeared. "Mufasa, quick, stampede, in the gorge, Simba's down there!" Scar gasped. "Simba!" Mufasa repeated, a horrified look on his face. Kalum ran with his uncle, father and Zazu to the gorge. Zazu pointed Simba out to Mufasa, who yelled to him to hold on. Just then a wildabeest hit the tree, causing Simba to cry out again for help. "SIMBA!" Kalum yelled, his eyes fixed on the tree. He knew that Adia was leading Mufasa to Simba but he took no notice. When he saw Mufasa place Simba onto the rock and then get caught, Kalum gasped. When he saw Mufasa begin to climb the rock, Kalum scrambled back to Sarabi.
Later that day Scar came back with terrible news. He broke it to the pride that Mufasa had died in the stampede saving Simba, who also died. Kalum knew that Scar would become king, but he did not expect the hyenas to live with them.
Afterwards, since Adia had stayed, he begged her for the full story. Adia explained that Scar threw Mufasa off a cliff, told Simba it was his fault and SImba ran off, into the brambles, and out into the open, where he would never survive. Kalum didn't believe her, even though he didn't show or tell it.
But then, a few days later Scar came along. "Uncle Scar!" Kalum had cried in delight, nuzzling his uncle. Scar hugged him close but suddenly put his claws out, the sharp edges poking his fur. "Uncle." Kalum pointed out, nodding towards the claws. Scar removed his paw and let him run off. But just as Kalum was about to go back to his mother Scar pounced on him, his teeth sinking into Kalum's back. Kalum shrieked with pain for help but no one heard him. Scar sinked his claws into Kalum, piercing his skin. Kalum tried to escape but Scar gripped hold of him. He almost skinned Kalum when he was dragging his claws through the back. Scar finally bit Kalum's back before dropping him. Kalum looked at his own claws, that had blood on them. He had managed to claw Scar a little and bite his paw. "Uncle, why?" He gasped, feeling faint. "I don't want you taking over. When you are an adult you will want to become king, but you can't if your dead." Scar growled, raising his paw to strike again. "Please don't, I promise that I will never tell anyone about this attack and I will not try and take your throne! I never had any training for it! I will be loyal, I will not fight against you!" Kalum cried. Scar lowered his paw to the ground. "Very well, you may live, but one wrong paw and I'll kill you." Scar growled before walking off. Kalum was gasping for air, and his body felt weak. Kalum ran his last thought's through his head. I'm sorry father, brother, I failed you. He thought before everything went black.
Kalum felt water being splashed on his face. He opened his eyes to see his mother bathing him. "Mother?" He asked weakly. "Am I dead?" Sarabi looked at him and shook her head. "No, my son, but you were not far from it. Sarafina found you lying on the ground not moving and brought you to me. What happened to you?" She replied. Kalum re-wound to what he had promised to Scar. What would he say? "Oh, um, this rouge came and attacked me, the hyena's fought off the rouge but I got a few scratches from them by accident." He lied.Sarabi nodded and continued licking his fur. Adia ran through the cave and hugged him tight. "I thought that you would die!" She sobbed. Kalum hugged his cousin back then walked off. Remembering what Adia had said to him about Simba and Mufasa, he began to cry, realising that what Adia had said was true, his uncle was a murderous monster, it wasn't a nightmare but reality. Everything was going too fast, everything was confusing. Finally, after many tears that had fallen, Kalum fell asleep.
Only one scar remained on Kalum's body, and that was on his back, a reminder of when Scar had attacked him, and the lie he had told his mother. Then, one day, there was an argument, and Scar killed Uru and Sarafina. Then Luke stood up, and Kalum could only watch in horror as Scar murdered the poor child. Kalum wasn't the same after that. He hung close to his friends, he looked after Mheetu, he spent time with them. Then his mane began to grow. Then he became an adult. Nala told Kalum to escape with Tojo, Chumvi and Malka before Scar killed them all. Kalum refused until she said that she would be going away for help and would call him back when they were claiming the pridelands. He took Mheetu with him, and the five escaped. They struggled for food, and it was hard to not join up with a pride. Finally, Tojo and Chumvi joined a pride but promised to visit. Mheetu was growing up and planned to make his own pride. Malka left in search for help, but asked the animals to tell him if he could return. Kalum and Mheetu were left on their own.
At last, when Mheetu was an adult, he saw some animals going towards the pridelands. "I wouldn't, no one is there, there is nowhere to go, and you will be killed by a hunting party." He warned. "Huh, that time is over now. It's safe to return. the king has returned." One of the animals laughed. "What?" Kalum asked, a little shocked. "Didn't you know? The words all around. King Simba has returned and chose Nala as his queen." The other one explained, looking a bit shocked. Kalum burst into a sprint at once, passing Mheetu. "Come on, we're going home!" He yelled to the surprised younger lion, who ran after him. They skidded to a stop, just in time to see the monkey lift up a cub that looked like Simba. Kalum knew it was Simba's son.
After, he went up to Simba, ignoring Zira who was lying there looking over the cub. "Brother, is it really you?" He asked. Simba looked at Kalum with surprise then he smiled. "I was afraid you were dead, I hoped that you would come back Kalum." Simba purred. Kalum nuzzled his brother. His lost brother had returned, he no longer felt half. "Kalum, where did you get that scar?" Simba suddenly asked, concern in his voice. Kalum looked over his shoulder. "Oh, Scar attacked me when I was a cub, he wanted to kill me in case I took over the throne, but I promised him loyalty, altough I never liked him and I'd much sooner be loyal to you. This was the only wound that never healed, no big." Kalum explained. Simba looked concerned. "How much damage did he do to you?" He asked, worry in his voice. "I lost count. It doesn't matter, I bit his paw and scratched him a little in my defence." Kalum shrugged. Simba sighed. "Are you sure your OK?" He checked. "Simba, I would never become like Scar, I will be loyal and defend this pride or die trying." Kalum replied, reading his brother's thoughts. Simba sighed again and nuzzled his brother.
A year later, Mheetu had found a mate and had her cub. He left to find a pride but did visit often. Kalum felt lonely, but one day he saw a lioness running up the path. Kalum jumped down at her. "Where are you going?" He growled. The lioness skidded to a stop. "I'm so sorry, I just need a pride, a place to stay, I need a home." She panted. "Then follow me, my brother, King Simba, will decide what fate you have." Kalum growled. The lioness followed, and Simba confirmed that she could stay. After, she turned to Kalum. "My name is Mary, by the way." She smiled. Then Kalum's life started on a brand new level
