Personality: Mwesi was very playful and adventurous as a cub. He loves to be around his family, but always did look up to his father. Mwesi is very overprotective of his sister, even though she is older. Mwesi is very determined and headstrong, when he needs to be. He looks after everyone he meets and loves his pride. Mwesi was always there to cheer others up, and loves it. In any situation Mwesi can always find something positive.

Dislikes: Fighting with his sister, Anything harming his pride/family

History: Mwesi was the second cub of Kipawa and Hasina. His sister, Nuala, was the oldest but she is blind so, his parents thought the next cub would be the king/queen of the pride lands but Mwesi was very small and weak. Kipawa asked Rafiki to raise both of his cubs so they could determine which one would become the ruler later on. Rafiki did as he was told and the two cubs were now locked in a competition for the throne.

Mwesi and Nuala did not care much about who would rule the kingdom when they were cubs. Nuala was blind and clumsy but Mwesi was weak and got sick easily. Both cubs were given lessons to become king/queen and Mwesi loved spending time with his father. He always looked up for his father, he wanted to be just like him.

Mwesi and Nuala were close as cubs. They always played together, along with their cousins Sadira, Rashid, and Asha. The five always went off exploring together, but one day when they went to go look for something to do Nuala was distracted by a noise. The others did not notice, leaving her behind and just like that Nuala was lost. Mwesi, who normally looks after his blind sister, was arguing with Rashid at the time so he did not notice his sister's disappearance for a while. When he did notice his sister was gone, Mwesi searched everywhere. He did not know about the strange cub Nuala would meet while wandering around. He found her just as the strange cub left. Mwesi didn't find Nuala before their father did and all the cubs got into trouble for leaving the Pride Lands, and Nuala.

Mwesi's father had a soft spot for his cubs so he was only mad at them for a little bit but Mwesi was still mad at himself for upsetting his father. Mwesi tried his best to never get into trouble again. As time went by, Mwesi grew into a strong teenager. He became more focused on becoming ruler of the Pride Lands, but so did Nuala. Everyone believed Mwesi would not live past childhood but this small cub caught up to all the others and became a healthy young teenager. One day, Mwesi was out walking through the Pride Lands when he heard something. A large heard was running right through the Pride Lands. Something must have spooked them.Mwesi quickly got out of the way but soon realized not everyone did. Mwesi rushed into action after noticing a lioness trapped in the stampede. He jumped in to help the lioness, but she simply refused his help. The lioness tried to get out of the stampede herself, but it was even hard for Mwesi to move around in the stampede. The lioness tripped but, luckily, Mwesi got to her just in time, pulling the lioness to safety. When they were safe Mwesi realized who she was. It was Etana, the young lioness around his age. She didn't really spend much time around Mwesi when they were cubs and she was always determined the become a huntress. Etana did not thank Mwesi, but rudely walked away. Annoyed, Mwesi went home but to find a surprise.

Nuala, his sister, met Khan, the young cub she ran into when she was lost. He was a runaway and had no where to go. Nuala was sitting in the shade, enjoying the day, when hyenas jumped out and attacked her. Luckily, Khan was there to save her. Kipawa welcomed Khan, thankful for saving his daughter but Mwesi did not trust Khan. Just the way Khan looked made Mwesi not trust him. He especially did not like Khan being around Nuala and started a search to find something untrustworthy about Khan. Nuala was very upset over this. She thought her brother was very rude and the two began to fight. The competition between the two for the throne got worse. They were constantly fighting with each other. Their parents couldn't do anything to stop them.

On the day their father was going to pick who would rule the kingdom, Nuala and Mwesi had a fight. Mwesi stormed off, upset. That's when he ran into Etana. She seemed sad, so Mwesi decided to try and cheer her up. Etana was upset because she didn't think that she would be able to join the hunting party. All her life she wanted to be the great hunter, her mother was. Mwesi was able to cheer Etana up, after a talk. He then decided that maybe, Nuala was meant to be queen. He had been acting rudely towards Khan, not like a King.

Mwesi decided to leave the Pride Lands, luckily Kipawa and Nuala found him before he left. They convinced him to come back. Turns out, Nuala did not want to be queen. She hated how others fought over the throne  and did not want anything to do with it ever again. Kipawa knew Mwesi would be a good king, because he did not think so. Mwesi returned to the Pride Lands and was crowned king. He made sure his sister was there to help him with all important decisions. Surprisingly, Etana and Mwesi became very close. She became leader of the hunting party but she loved spending time with Mwesi. Etana wasn't the rude lioness Mwesi thought she was the first time they met.

As time went on Etana and Mwesi fell in love. Etana became his queen and the two ruled the Pride Lands together. Mwesi was very happy and made sure to remain close to his sister.
