History: Shani is Kiara and Kovu's second cub. She has one older brother named Kipawa, the two surprisingly get along just fine. Shani was always very playful and adventurous. she especially loved beating her brother at play wrestling. Shani is a big 'daddy's little girl' and she never wants to disappoint her father. As a cub Shani played lots of pranks on others and got into a lot of trouble. Luckily for her, Kovu has a soft spot for his daughter and was always there to help her. Shani was often annoyed by her protective older brother, Kipawa, but quickly learned ways to get around him. Shani may not have been as close with her mother, Kiara, but Shani loved her hunting lessons with her mother. Kiara seemed to make learning fun for Shani.

One day, Shani was out playing when she ran into a cub. being her friendly self, Shani introduced her self to the cub. The cub was Asante. Shani soon met Asante's mother, who explained they wanted to leave their pride to start somewhere new. Shani decided to introduce them to her parents. Kiara, Shani's mother, quickly became friends with Asante's mother. Asante's father didn't talk much and the family was welcomed to the Pride Lands. Shani decided to show Asante around, and learned that Asante was the only one who could beat Shani at play wrestling. The two ended up playing all day, then playing again the next day. Pretty soon, Shani and Asante were best friends.

As Shani grew into a young teenager, everyone believed she was beautiful but Shani did not care about looks. Shani and Asante were still best friends but Asante had something to tell Shani. One day, while they were out alone Asante told Shani the truth. Asante did not come her to start new. His father wanted to be king of a pride. They tried to take over the first pride they lived in but they failed so they traveled to the Pride Lands. Asante and his mother were forced to do this but, finally, Asante wanted to fight back. Shani went to tell her father but it was too late. She was kidnapped by Asante's father. Shani was not harmed, but simply used as bait for her brother and parents. She was kept in a small den, by the mountains. Shani was helpless. Asante got Kipawa and together they ran to help Shani. Kipawa and Asante had to fight Asante's father. Shani knew Asante did not want to kill his own father but it had to be done to protect the others in the pride. Finally, Asante and Kipawa had won and Shani was taken back home.

As Shani grew older, she started to notice the hints Asante was dropping. It was a it hard for her to admit it but she knew she had a crush on him as well. Kipawa took the thrown, and Shani could not be more proud of her brother. Sadly, Kipawa ran into a new challenge. The Pride Lands were forced into a war because a neighboring pride wanted to move into their territory. Shani, now leader of the hunting party, took a big part in the war. It was long and hard. Shani saw many things, she wish she hadn't but she realized how much she loved the Pride Lands. Shani would do anything to keep the invaders away. After, what seemed like forever, Kipawa ended the war. Shani was able to return to her normal days. She watched her brother fall in love with a lioness named Hasina and knew it was time to tell Asante. Shani and Asante both admitted their feelings for each other, and although it took a lot of convincing to get Kovu to accept it, they became mates. Shani knew her life could not get better.
