History: Saman was second born and quickly learned about his surroundings. At first he was a bit annoyed that Tima was older than him but when he heard that Tima was not going to be queen he felt sure that he would be king. At first, this was the plan but Thema soon saw that Saman was not fit to be king. He was too independant. So one day, when Saman got home, he noticed that Thema was unusually happy. She told him that he was going to be an older brother. Saman souted at Thema and ran to the water hole crying. He sensed Tima approaching him. She comforted Saman but told him that Thema was having a new cub because she couldn't be queen and Saman couldn't because he was on his own too much. Saman cried harder into his sister's shoulder. When his new sibling was due to arrive he went to the outlands. There, he met a female hyena pup called Charai. Saman knew that lions and hyenas were supposed to hate each other but he always thought that they should decide that for themselves. And Saman decided. He became friends with her. He played with Charai and told her about how he was going to have a new sibling. Charai told Saman how her brother had recently died so her mother was giving her a new little sister. Just then Tima came to fetch Saman. She saw Charai and tackled her, defending her brother. Saman pounced on her. "Leave Charai alone!" He growled. Tima refused. Saman engaged into a rough battle with her until Charai broke them up. Tima growled. "Tima, Charai is my friend." Saman sighed. "Huh, you know that lions and hyenas are enemys." Tima growled. "Well I think that we should decide that for ourselves, and I have made my decision, friend not foe!" Saman snapped. Tima explained that she had come to fetch Saman as Thema wanted him to see his new siblings. Saman said goodbye to Charai and trotted after Tima, wondering why she said siblings. He soon found out why. He saw Thema with two cubs in her arms. "Saman, this is Trama and Tama, your new brothers." Thema smiled. "Tama, isn't that a girls name?" Saman laughed. Tama turned to Saman with a hurt look. Trama growled in a protective way with his tiny voice. Saman just rolled his eyes.

Months passed and Saman started seeing Charai less and less. At first Tima looked after the two cubs, giving Saman the chance to see Charai every day. Then as the cubs grew older, they wanted Saman's attention more and more. One day, Saman had faithfully promised Charai that he would visit her. But Thema wanted him to look after the cubs. Saman knew that he had to visit Charai so began to walk off and leave them. But Tima leapt in front of him. "Where do you think your going?" She snapped. Saman explained that he had promised Charai that he would visit her. Tima said to stay with the cubs and she would bring Charai to Saman. He waited wtih the cubs and eventuallt Tima arrived with Charai. Trama prepared to pounce but Tama kept him off. Saman greeted Charai with a nuzzle and Tima was forced to do it. She pushed Saman to Charai;s muzzle making them kiss. Saman blushed. He decided to let Charai come to the pridelands every day.

The next day however, Saman had forgotten the announcement. He managed to convince Tima to sneak Charai in. They were supposed to tell the croud who they would like as a mate. Of course Saman had to say a lioness but he caught Charai's eye and hoped that she would know that he had to say it. Tama made a complete fool of himself and Saman could have banged his head against the floor. He knew that after the announcement parents would bring their children and see if they would be perfect mates. Many lionesses came up to Saman but he didn't like any of them. Eventually he saw Charai. But only at the last minute. "Why are you here hyena?" Mohatu growled. "I am Charai. I have my mother who refuses to attack lions as one looked after her and my father is dead. My brother died and I have one younger sister. My father died protecting my little sister and she is too young to hate lions. I come in peace. I do not wish to fight you, my mother is weak. I wish only to see Saman." Charai spoke with kindness in her voice. Mohatu sighed and nodded. "I can see you live in the outlands but then again tehre is no where else to live. You speak the truth so you may see Saman." Saman stepped towards Charai. He then looked at Mohatu. "Father, I have met Charai before. When Trama and Tama were born I was in the outlands, I met Charai and we have been meeting each other ever since. Please forgive me." Mohatu smiled. "Saman you have made friends with this hyena and were willing to keep her a secret to protect her. Charai, you may enter the pridelands whenever you like." Charai thanked him and siad that she must return home to check on her mother and sister but she would return later that day.

But when Saman waited for Charai she didn't come. Eventually Saman decided to go to her. He met Charai on the log that crossed between the pridelands and outlands. Saman saw that she had been crying. He took Charai onto prideland territory and asked her what the matter was. Eventually it all came out. Her mother was dying and some lions came and attacked them when their mother might have had some hope of survival and killed her and now they had no where to go. For the first time Saman had a prince instinct. He took Charai home and told Thema and Mohatu everything. They took Charai into their home and looked after her and her younger sister. Thema saw that Saman was growing up, actually in a way he would be a great king. Thema was regreting having Trama and Tama, after all, they were so that the pridelands had a king. Now Saman would be a great ruler. Then the same day, a stampede started and Tama was killed. Saman felt somehow responsible for all the bad luck that ever happened to his crush and family. All he could do was be there for his mother, who was pregnant again. Charai looked after him as much as she could. Saman couldn't help feeling responsible for his brother's death.

Eventually his two new siblings were born. They were called Matthew and Emily. Saman was glad, but he was upset that they were born at the same time. It kind of felt like they were replacing Tama. They grew older, and Saman remembered painfully when Trama and Tama were born and growing up. He didn't want them. He hated them. Now all he wanted was Tama and Charai.

A few years went by. Thema had Matthew and Emily at a fairly old age so while they were still cubs Saman was an adult. Tama would be an adult too, if it wasn't for the fact that he was dead. One day trama ran over to Mohatu, Thema and Saman with interesting news. An adult male lion had been found on the bank. When Mohatu went to see the lion Saman followed him, and recognised the lion as his brother Tama! When Mohatu went off to tell Thema Saman ran up to his brother and nuzzled him. But he saw Mohatu out of the corner of his eye preparing to pounce. Saman leapt off of Tama and was ready to fight but got there too late. Mohatu pounced on Tama and knocked him off hi feet. Nearly off of Pride rock too. Saman watched in horror as Mohatu held Tama by his paws, then a mist surrounded him. Then next thing Saman knew Mohatu had morphed into Scar's body! Saman wanted to tackle Mohatu off the cliff but he couldn't. Mohatu was his father. Thema turned up and tried to get Mohatu to stop but he hit her. Then Mohatu threw Tama off pride rock. Tama shot back up and ran to the top of pride rock. Mohatu then seemed to morph into Nuka's body! He was growing older too quickly, he had been put under some sort of spell. Mohatu began to climb up to Tama but slipped. He seemed to be knocked out of the spell but it was too late, and he was still in Nuka's body. With his last dying breath he said goodbye to Thema and his kids. Then he died. Charai nuzzled him smypathatically. Saman felt like his whole family was fading away.

The next day Saman spent time as usual with Charai. His crush on Charai had grown stronger. The voice in his head told him to ask her out. Another one told him not to. This had happened a million times before but this time the voice that told him to ask her out. So he went with the stronger voice. He asked Charai out. And, to his delight, she accepted!

However, things got complicated. Lions and hyenas were teasing them for being together, especially when they became mates. "Come on Charai, lets leave. We'll make our own pride." saman suggested. Charai nodded and they left the next day.
