History:
Birth-
Akeelah was the first cub of Baraka and Kamili. She was born in the Pride Lands when Chaka, Kamili's brother, took the thrown.
Childhood-
Akeelah was always a very mature and serious cub. Her father Baraka always wanted to spoil her but Akeelah liked doing things on her own. She would often be out with her friends talking and laughing. She never got in trouble and always did as she was told. Akeelah her mother were always the closest. Akeelah enjoyed talking with her mother while she took a long bath on a warm sunny day. Just like her mother, Akeelah loves attention.
Soon Penda was born. Akeelah was very excited to have a younger sister but she got a little more than she bargained for. Penda was the tomboy of the family. She enjoyed getting dirty and playing jokes on Akeelah and she was always stuck babysitting Penda. Akeelah and Penda fought almost all the time and the enjoyed teasing each other. Akeelah was always the bigger person though, and she knew when it wasn't a good idea to fight with Penda. Akeelah was still Penda's older sister and therefor she looked after her, kept her safe and out of trouble, and even sometimes they would sit and talk on rainy days, though sometimes Penda would enjoy some time splashing in the mud puddles left behind.
Akeelah and Penda soon had another sister and Akeelah was hoping she wouldn't be the same as Penda. Their younger sister was named Sabra and she was always the most shy and timid one of the three. Sabra normally did do what Akeelah said and she never got in trouble but Penda was always there to help Sabra sneak off to play and break rules. Akeelah and Penda fought even more about this issue and their parents just laughed. "I hope you girls realize how different you are doesn't matter. You'll find something you have in common one day," Their mother would laugh, speaking from experience. Akeelah didn't find that funny at all though.
Teenage years-
When Akeelah turned into a teenager she was admired by her beauty, never noticing how her sisters felt a little annoyed about how much attention she could attract. During these years Akeelah was blind to what was really important. That all changed when she was out with Sabra then they spotted Penda sneaking out of the pride lands. Akeelah ran to stop her sister and Penda just laughed, "Whatcha gonna do about, Princess?"
Akeelah, fed up with Penda, tackled her just trying to pin her down but Penda slipped out of Akeelah's reach and ran from the Pride Lands. Akeelah chased her, Sabra was behind her trying to keep up. Penda laughed and laughed when she stumbled. Penda rolled on the dusty ground and Akeelah just gave her a look. Just then Sabra heard and noise. She told Akeelah and the three sisters listened closely but they heard it again. They looked at each other then bolted away from the strange noise. The three stayed together the whole time. They soon stopped at a large dead tree which they hid behind. They looked around but saw nothing. Then Akeelah noticed where they had ran. The Out Lands. The three sisters wandered around terrified of what may still be lurking around the shadows. The tried to find their way but to the Pride Lands but years of this place being untouched made it difficult. Then Penda heard a noise but it didn't sound threatening at all. Akeelah didn't notice until she heard Penda screech. Akeelah and Sabra ran towards her but when they found Penda it was just her screeching over this small cub that had been left here. It was still just an infant and it didn't look to good. Just then a lion jumped out at them. He was a teenaged lion about Penda's age. Sabra stood with the small cub while Penda and Akeelah attacked the lion. The lion screamed at them to not hurt his sister. The girls looked at each other and let the lion go. He explained his name was Lokar and his younger sister, who was really his half sister, was named Shani. Their parents had left them after Shani was born, thinking another cub was too much to handle, but Shani is still an infant and still needs milk which Lokar can not get to her. Penda felt sorry for Lokar but Akeelah remembered they had to get home. She asked if he knew the way. Lokar happily showed them the way back. They thanked him and went on their way. Akeelah didn't know Penda snuck Lokar and Shani into the pride lands.
Later Penda went to her uncle Chaka to tell him about Lokar and Shani, they were accepted but they needed to be watched for a while so he let Penda do that job but Akeelah never did approve. She never did like Lokar, she thought he was a bit strange.
Adulthood-
Akeelah became a beautiful adult. She soon found out her sister, Penda fell in love with Lokar. Akeelah had gotten sued to them being friends but now she was jealous of her sister's happiness. It was hard for Akeelah to find the right boy who she would want to marry, how come it came easily to her younger sister.
After a while Akeelah was out when her sister, Penda, came up to her. By accident Akeelah mentioned how she was jealous of Penda and Lokar. Penda burst out laughing. "You're jealous of me? Oh, man this is too funny! How can you be jealous of me? You're smart, and pretty, and everyone seems to like you. I was....always jealous of you," Penda said. Akeelah looked at her sister in shock, had she just said what she think she said? Penda had always been jealous of her? Maybe, that is why she always teased her as a cub. Akeelah smiled and happily asked her sister is she had time to hang out. Penda accepted her offer and the two went off to enjoy the day, just the two of them. These two opposite sisters had become the best pair you could imagine. Akeelah still remains hopeful, that her true love is still out there but isn't ready to rush anything at the moment.
