History: Hekima was born to two rogues far from the safety of any kingdom. His parents had been rogues their whole lives and preferred a life of solitude. He was the only cub of the litter and his parents did all they could to shower him with affection and teach him to be good. Although his name has several meanings his mother, upon looking into his eyes a few days after his birth, saw something in them and wanted his name to mean wisdom. She told her mate who readily agreed and they bestowed on him the name Hekima. The small family traveled from place to place, searching for nothing in particular but often found themselves’ living on the borders of different kingdoms. When they did, Hekima’s parents would take turns hunting on the lands but they never remained too long for fear of getting caught.
In time Hekima grew into a handsome lion with a full grown mane but when his mane started showing signs on his chest his father decided he learned how to defend himself. He excelled at his father’s teachings and was later taught to hunt by his mother whom he helped bring down prey for their family to eat. One day when he and his family were joint hunting one of the intended prey smacked its hoof into his mother’s face. Hekima and his father, seeing the grievous wound, knew that there was nothing they could do for her, which crushed Hekima’s heart. Not wanting his mother to suffer he told her that he would end her life as painlessly as possible, much to the distraught of his father, who, in the end and seeing no other alternative, agreed. Hekima killed his mother then and there and in his anger and grief he ran towards the small herd of the prey they were hunting and killed one of them. He brought it back to his father who was laying some grass blades on his dead mate’s body. The two lions took their kill with heavy hearts back to their shelter. With it being just them Hekima vowed to look after his father who took the death of his mate hard and had seemed to age overnight from it.
As time passed and it became aware that his father was growing older Hekima was told to go his own path. He didn’t want to because he didn’t want to break his vow but his father insisted and told him that he and his mother would always be with him and to look at the stars at night whenever he thought of them. So Hekima left his father unaware that his father died that night from old age. A few years passed and Hekima managed to face a rogue’s life on his own without too much trouble. He avoided joining coalitions because they usually brought nothing but trouble.
In time he stepped on a plentiful land and was in need of water and food. When he found a waterhole to drink from he came across a dark brown lioness with blue eyes who addressed him with great caution. He drank slowly, his eyes on her, seeing that she was tense at his presence. When he finished, licking his mouth, water dripping from his chin, he slowly and carefully informed her that he was no threat, that he just needed a drink and would leave.
He was about to when the lioness called out to him and before he knew it they had struck up a conversation and the lioness was inviting him to stay with her pride until he was rested. The lioness, whose name he now knew to be Kamaria, told him that he was in a kingdom called the Pridelands. On their walk to the pridal keep which was called Pride Rock, Hekima felt himself tense, but upon meeting the King and his family, including Kamaria’s family he knew there was no reason to be tense, but he’d never been around a real pride before and his slight fear was showing.
He spent three days there and in those three days the lands looked and felt like home. He didn’t want to leave and asked the leader for permission to stay, swearing that he would never seek to take the throne. Kamaria found herself supporting Hekima because in the three days he was there they found themselves drawn to each other. He was accepted into the pride and for the first time in his life Hekima was truly home and knew that he was starting a new phase in his life. After only a few months in the Pridelands he found himself in love with Kamaria and she with him and the two declared themselves mates.
