History: Furaha was born successfully, in Malka's pride as a descendant of Malka himslef. After a long hard struggle from his mother. It was a miricle, and everyone in the pride thought that he had been sent by the great kings of the past as a gift. As he became a week old, they noticed he seemed fairly active for such a young cub, he was already trying to venture out of his mother's paws and go exploring, even though his eyes hadn't even opened! Now the pride were sure he was a blessing, they'd never witnessed a cub like him before. After 3 weeks of his mother grabbing him tenderly by the scruff and taking him back into the cave, his eyes had opened and he was starting to bound round the cave. Wherever he went, joy and happiness followed, on the faces of the lionesses, in his parents and most importantly, inside him. So he was named Furaha, which is Swahili for joy and he carried on, in his little rein of happiness and was loved dearly by all the members of the pride. He was an only child, his parents had decided that asking for another child after recieving this miracle might seem greedy to the gods and didn't want to be punished. All the other pride lionesses agreeded to this, so they didn't have any cubs either, Furaha had no play mates or friends, he was all alone. So he started to play with other things, for instance, a butterfly, a ladybird, a cricket. These were safe and he enjoyed chasing them around in his little fantasy world.
All was fine, the pride had their miracle child, and Furaha had his bug friends. Until one day, Furaha was playing with a locust and he followed it up to a gorge, he looked down and saw some buffalo "playing tig" in the gorge, 'wow!' he thought, 'finally a good playmate!' and he clambered down to the gorge. But when he got down there, he noticed something- this didn't seem friendly and childish, it seemed violent and fearful, they didn't have smiles on their faces, just looks of horror! He screamed but it was too late, he had been whisked off his feet and thrown far across the gorge, landing on the other side, where he grabbed the wall and tried to climb, but started to slip, He scraemed as loud as he could, and soon spotted the pelts of his pride, high above him. He screamed out again and they spotted him, he clung on for dear life. His mother scrambled down and grabbed him like she had when he was a mere week-old. The buffalos were like an ocean, the odd lion could be seen drowning in it, being swatted down like flies. An old female jumped up to where they were in an attempt to save herself and banged into Furaha's mother, and Furaha was dropped into the swirling waves of Buffalo heads. "NOO!!" She screamed, but it was too late now, and most of the pride had been trampled to death. Suddenly, his fther came out of nowhere in a final attempt at rescueing his son. He grabbed Furaha and lept up to the ledge, but he had jumped from too far away and after managing to pass the precious cargo to his wife, was blasted off by a mad raging male buffalo. Furaha could only stare in horror as his father, the lion king, was trapped under the beast, which reared high, hooves bucking madly and slammed down...
Furaha and his mother screamed but all they could see was his crumpled body, getting trampled on the gorge floor. The old female was screaming and crying, she obviously couldn't cope she was running in circles, didn't realise how close she was to teh edge of the ledge and with a yell, she was gone, out of sight. Now it was just Furaha and his mother. He noticed she had gone very quite and pale, and seemed to be mumbling to herself. Then she turned round to him "You.... your.... YOUR FAULT!" He jumped and scrambled backwards, "Go... go.... NOW!!" She went to swipe a paw at him but he dodged it, and started to run up a small path in the rock, he turned to get one last glimpse of his mother, only to see the rock empty. "Noo! Mother, NOO!!" But he knew it was too late. Furaha ran back to his home. It was empty, his mother had been right. It was his fault, he had just killed his whole family, he curled up in the corner that he would have once sat in his mothers arms. At the time, he'd squirm and kick to be free, now he'd give anything for her to be here again, giving him baths with her warm tongue, the whole pride smiling and laughing as he tried to escape.
He spent days trying with no avail to find one of the lions his father had told him about- King Simba, tojo the rogue, Queen Nala, Chumvi the traveller and Kula, his sister. He had always been happy, but now he knew how it felt to be depressed and lonely, he wished that this feeling didn't exist, and that he could cure it somehow, he had a feeling he could never cure what he felt now, that he would never forget the trauma, but maby he could help others, instead... From that day on, Furaha was devoted to making others happy, in memory of his pride.
