History: Maiuu was born, along with her twin sister Nakato, to a Pridelander lioness and her mate, and male from a Pride known as the Vinetree Pride. This Pride was set in the jungle where Simba grew up, and it was very hard for Maiuu's mother to take her cubs to visit their father often, but she always tried her hardest to make sure her children knew who and where their father was in case anything happened to her, and just because he was their dad. As Maiuu and Nakato grew older, as did their mother, they stopped visiting the jungle all together, as their mother simply could not make the journey in the blistering sun with two lively cubs to watch out for. This meant Maiuu and Nakato had to hang around Pride Rock instead, which they weren't too bothered about. In time, they forgot almost everything about their father. When Maiuu and her sister were about a year old, they were told a story about a scary lioness called Zahira, who had killed their previous King, Simba. They were told to watch out for her, and if they ever saw her in the Pridelands to come straight home and alert Kovu. As the two sisters were playing one day, they spotted Zahira conversing with her mother, Vitani, at the waterhole. Before they even bothered to find out what was happening they took off back to Pride Rock, and told Kovu who had they seen. They were told to stay back at Pride Rock, and Kovu and a few others took off in the direction of the waterhole. All seemed fine in the next few days, apart from they often noticed Vitani giving them dirty looks and muttering when they were near her. It was when Kovu held a meeting, telling the Pride that Zahira was dead, they found out what they had done - they had basically killed Zahira themselves. Maiuu felt extremely guilty about this, while Nakato tried to tell her they had done the right thing.
They continued to grow, and made friends with a few of the other cubs in the Pride, including Kamaria, Kovu's daughter, and Uri, her quiet little brother. Maiuu loved to play with her new friends, and didn't even notice her sister kept disappearing for about an hour each day. One day, she decided to follow her, and found out Nakato had been seeing an Outlander cub, named Enzu. Maiuu kept quiet about this, pretending nothing had happened. It wasn't long until herself and Enzu were formally introduced, and she took an instant dislike to him. Not for the fact that he was an Outlander, but because he was stealing her sister away from her. Nakato insisted Enzu played with them every day, and soon, Maiuu began to feel left out. She wasn't her usual playful self, and for a while she stayed with her mother when every other cub went to play. Her mother noticed this wasn't like her lively daughter, and asked what was wrong. When Maiuu told her about Enzu, she was shocked, but happy for her other daughter that she had found, perhaps, a future mate, even if he was an Outlander. This made Maiuu feel even more down in the dumps, and she began to stop clinging to her mother, but ventured out on her own instead of with any of the others, apart from her occasional play-date with Uri, who she still liked very well in a friendly way.
When Maiuu became a teen, she was beginning to open up again, after being urged by Uri and her mother. She was starting to see her friends again, and was happy that they seemed to have missed her. She finally felt like herself again. She was like this for several months, until something she didn't expect to happen happened - her mother took a turn for the worst during what Oumaki, the new shaman after Rafiki died, was just a short sickness spell, and died during the night. Maiuu and Nakato were devastated. It was quite obvious that Nakato, who had always been the smarter of the two, was taking this blow better than Maiuu, who sheltered herself away again. She went through a phase of blaming Oumaki for her mother's death, but later realized it wasn't his fault - it was a disease that they had never seen before, and was similar in symtoms to a common illness throughout the lands. Even though she was coming to terms with her mother's death, she still felt as if she had to leave the Pridelands to escape the sadness she felt. She said goodbye to her friends and family, and the Pridelanders even held a small leaving party for her. Then she ran off, in search of a new home.
Maiuu had been travelling for a few days when she came across a jungle. It looked strangely familiar to her, and then she realized why - this is where her father used to live. This was the land of the Vinetree Pride! She followed her memories of the place, and soon found the camp for the Pride. She asked around the Pride members if they knew her father, but most of them just shook their heads. They seemed quite young. It wasn't until she found an elder lion and asked her that she got a positive answer. This lion told her details on her father. Maiuu was excited for a few minutes until the lioness told her her father had died a few months ago. This made her sad, learning that her other parent had passed away, even if she didn't know her father very well. But then, there was another piece of good news. Her father had had a son with another lioness, and now he was ruling the Pride. The wise lioness gave Maiuu directions to his den, and she thanked her and went on her way, looking for the lion she was told was called Korulu. When she found the den, she entered. Korulu, at first, was very agressive towards her, but then Maiuu explained who she was and why she was here, he calmed down. It was then Maiuu asked if she could join the Pride. Korulu, understandably, was doubtful. He'd just met her a few minutes ago. But he agreed, and in a month she had learned all the rules of the jungle, and made a very good Pride member. She also grew closer to her half-brother. Now, she just enjoys life, trying to take what it throws at her without any difficulty.
Relation to TLK: Was a member of Kovu's Pride, and was good friends with Kamaria and Uri, two of his and Kiara's children. She also ran away to the jungle where Simba grew up.
