Buster hasn't folded his cards...He's merely shuffling his deck. But! Ladies and gentlemen, BUSTER IS WEARING A COLLAR. Please try to keep your jaws closed. He is almost recovered from his injury and has received a license (much to his dismay!) He knows if he is found on the streets- he will just be sent back to this house since Annette’s owner technically “owns” him (ugh, just the thought of it makes him sick!) He is playing it safe and putting on a perfectly rehabilitated street dog façade. Plus in here he won’t get caught on his own (with his weakened leg) by the dog catcher. He knows the stakes are high and the pound would love to see him put down due to him biting half the staff. He finds Annette a minor (albeit highly attractive) annoyance. Annette see’s through his act and wonders what he is scheming to do next. She also threatens getting him kicked out of the house if he tries to rip off his collar. Buster isn’t ready for that just yet- he is planning.
Buster finds it hilarious that Tramp could produce such a dainty house-dog and annoys her about that too. He’s been calling her “Annie” which drives her buggy.
“Ya know Babydoll… I’ll play things your way for a while.”
“Oh! Please do- it’s make it more embarrassing when your plans go horribly wrong and you wind up in the pound again.”
“You know I could escape anytime I wanted to…huh- Annie?”
“You call me that one more time and I swear I’ll,”
“-You would swear?! I couldn’t imagine! My poor innocent ears couldn’t take it!”
“Go ahead and escape, that bum leg won’t last you to town. But at least you can be carried back to the pound.”
“We’ll see, baby.”
“Get out.”
“Maybe I'll just stick around longer- just because I enjoy making ya mad…and this isn't just about escape... this is about revenge.”
It seems being Tramp’s daughter just got a lot harder.
