An Introduction
Normally I'd say that being a street dog is cool. But secretly, no one knows that I once was a house pet. Sometimes I miss those days, I mean, a warm place to stay, free food, and all the love you can get! But those days are over. Now I'm a street dog, fending for my survival and my friends.
Most of the time I can be a little protective over my friends. Really, they're all I have left. My little brother lives with Scamp, and I don't see him often. My dad was..... well, we'll get to that when it comes. My mom also isn't here. In the gang, some would call me a worry wart, and maybe they're right. Linka, my best friend, says she likes my the way I am. That's why I have a crush on her. But if you tell anyone, I'd have to kill you. Anyway, this is the story of my secret life, now that I've decided to come clean about it. It's top secret, so don't let it fall into the wrong hands.
If you are ready, than here it comes:
------------------------
My mom was a stray, and my dad was on the police force. My mom, along with my 2 sisters, died after we were born. My brother Cade and I were the only living pups. My dad and our owner, Maximus, or Max for short, took us in and tried to train us. Cade couldn't do it, he was too playful. Me, on the other hand, had my father's blood in him.
My dad, Toby, was a very strict dog. He looked after us carefully, and made sure nothing harmed us. I was going to be a police K9 when I was old enough. I was looking foward to it.
--------------------------
I had just finished my first day of training, and I was tired. I sat down next to Cade. He smiled at me. "Wanna play?" I sighed. He was always like this. "I'm too tired. Maybe tomorrow." Cade nodded, and ran in an other way. Dad sat next to me. "Rough day today?" He asked me. I nodded and laid my head down. He lay down next to me. He was about something when Max called him. "Toby, we have a bank robber! C'mon, boy!" He looked over at me. "I have to go. Keep an eye on your brother for me, would ya?" I nodded again.
I must of fallen asleep, because I remember waking upto a door shutting. I got up to go meet my dad, but when I arrived at the front door, Max had a look of sadness and anger on his face. The cheif walked up to him.
"Max, They've got to go!" he said.
"Come on, Cheif! It's everything to him!"
"I do not care, I've stated this already! I know, take them behind the dumpsters at Tony's Resturaunt."
"What? Why?"
"Alright, I'll give you 48 hours to find them a home, or behind the dumpsters. If you don't, I will, and you will be out of a job." He walked away. I was confused beyond belief. I jumped on the couch, knowing something was wrong. He sat down next to me. "Drake, I'm sorry to tell you this, but, uh, Toby was shot today by a bank robber. I'm sorry. I've got 48 hours to find you and Cade a home." He got up and walk out.
I sat there, shocked. I knew I had to tell Cade. A tear seeped out of my eye. My ears hanged low. I heard a noise. I looked up and saw Cade playing with an old rope. He loked up at me . "Hey, bro, is something wrong?"
I gulped. "Yeah. Come here, I gotta tell you something." He shrugged. "Okay, sure. What is it?"
"Well, Cade, dad was at a bank where someone had called 911 of a bank being robbed, and Max took Dad, and, well, Dad was... s-s-" he was struggling on saying it. "-shot.." he finally said. He looked over at Cade, his head down. He looked at me, confused. "Did I hear you right? Dad was-" He put on a look of sadness. "-shot?" I nodded. "The cheif obviously doesn't want anymore K9s here, and Max has 48 hours to find us a home." I sniffed. Cade put a paw on my back. "Hey, we'll get through this. Don't worry." He smiled. I gave him a small smile.
-------------------------------
Now, you would have thought it would have turned out right, but you were wrong. Turns out, nobody wants two german shepherds. In two days, we took a walk with Max. Cade ran around Max in circles, while I walked with my head down.
We arrived at Tony's, and a chill of fear went down my spine. Sure enough, we went around back. He picked both of us up and sat us down behind the dumpsters, obviously. I looked up at him. He looked back down at me. "I-I'm sorry..." he said, a tear coming out of his eye. He turned to Cade. "Stay," he told him.
Cade looked up at him, his head cocked. "Stay? What about the walk back?"
I sighed. "He's not taking us back."
He looked back at me. "Why not?"
"We're being dumped."
I heard him gasp, and I looked up at the sky, hoping that dad was looking down on me.
I miss youI wondered how we were gonna survive without any help. I left to go find us some food. I didn't find anything, and when I came back I didn't see Cade anywhere, and I started looking for him. I noticed very faintly him running around with a small figue of Tramp.
--------------------------------------
I was alone. I was wondering how I was going to survive when a black lab ran into me. "Quick! In the bushes!" He said. We went into the bushes. A huge Great Dane walk in the path growling. "Jack better not have guided them to safty." He said and ran off. The black lab and I emerged out. "I'm Tucker. You can call me Tuck. And you are?" I gulped. "I'm Drake." He looked at me with a look of curiosity. "You okay, kid? You seem down." I sighed. "I was left here after my dad died, and now my brothers dissapered." Tuck nodded. "That's why we don't trust humans." "We?" I asked. He nodded. "Come with me. And that's it. I was brought to live with Tuck's gang. Soon we met Manik and Annette, and that's how it all was. Or in other words, that's How it all Began.| 1 |
