She doesn't dislike him, but his lifestyle.
History: Elsie was one of 5 pups born to Millie and Paddy, After Millie and her owners moved to the countryside. Her owners kept her, along with her sister, Ivy. Her brothers were all sold.
When she was 12 weeks old she was curious and asked about her father. When she was told about him, She started having nightmares about ending up on the streets. She was constantly worried when her owners didn't give her as much attention some days.
Millie tried to reassure her that she would never end up on the streets.
When Elsie was 6 months old. She found out Ivy had gone missing. A stray male dog had been hanging around their house, talking to Ivy recently so Elsie was guessing she had run off with him. This made her very worried. She loved her sister. Their owners had put up signs around the nearest town, New England. They had no luck over the next few days.
Elsie feared the streets so much, and this would be a real challenge. But she had to find Ivy. She was missing her a lot. The posters weren't working. So she decided to take matters into her own hands (paws?) and face her fear. She went looking for her.
She left the countryside and went into New England. It was noisy, smelly and lonely on the streets, but she kept looking.
She found a familiar scent near a shop and followed it. It lead her to a small alley at the back of the shop. She could see 2 silhouettes in the alley. As she got closer, She saw that it was Ivy and a male mutt, nuzzling.
She went up to them. She asked Ivy what she was doing out here and told her how everyone was so worried about her. Ivy had found a mate, who was a stray and knew her owners wouldn't like it, So ran off to be with him. Elsie desperately wanted her sister to come home. Ivy wanted Elsie to meet someone. Round the corner came Paddy, her father. Elsie didn't know who he was at first. Ivy had been living in the streets with him and her mate.
Elsie couldn't believe she had found her father. She was told all about how her parents were separated because of the move. She really wanted to reunite her parents.
So all four travelled back to Elsie and Ivy's house. She told her father and Ivy's mate to stay out of sight.
The family were so relieved to have Ivy back. Elsie has to explain to her mum why they were both missing. She told her mum to come out to the backyard with her for a private chat.
When they got outside, Elsie told her mum there is someone here who is missing her. Paddy came up to the fence. The look on Millie's face when she finally saw her mate again was something Elsie would never forget.
Her fear of the streets had eased now. And she regularly saw her father, Now he knew where they lived.
