Hello everyone,
Sorry for the alarming and dramatic title, but I think all of the persons here has the right to know what's going on. Animation Source got entirely hacked, yesterday night.
The troll hacked a lot of moderator/administrator accounts to spam and to give permissions to his double-accounts and thus, made himself an easy way to take control and destroy the sites. I decided to demod every single staff member on the AS sites to avoid their powers to be misused. .
Then the hacker striked back and started to delete a bunch of accounts - including some staff accounts. I had no other choice than to close every site down, for safety purpose. I've only let the Animation Source hub open, to allow the members to log in.
To conclude, I did everything that I could to protect AS. For the moment, everything is under control - we must all remain calm. Sadly, Steet is currently in vacation and will only get back in a few days. He dosen't even know that AS got hacked to such a high level. If we're lucky, we shall find a permanent and useful way to get rid of this troll. Until then, every site will remain temporary closed. I don't want to take any risk.
The webranking will surely be affected, but if this decision can prevent our sites from being destructed, I think it's worth the sacrifice.

that already.  And also, I put a comment on that comment when you
first said it, like in the second page.  But I don't think you saw

I might know who did the hacking. It's a person with a youtube account
that made a video called "Balto Source Sucks" and it showed him
hacking into Balto Source back in 2009. The youtube username is
bugylukki. I'm not 100% sure, but I thought he or she would try it
again. |

I can't tell you, for the moment we are working on it. The mod-panel is currently closed so no editing/deleting/moderation/administration can be done. Thus, no ''hacking'' can practically be done while we manage to find a permanent solution. Until then and in the future, sharing personal informations should be avoided. I would also suggest that you guys change your passwords - preferably for a hard one: With letters, numbers and symbols. It makes it way more difficult to ''crack''. |

just a question that came into my head: is there a secure way you can
block the hacker? how strong is the saftey quarantee? (sorry if it
sounds rude, i don't mean to be - i couldn't find a good way to word

Spamming on this news is totally useless - it's not helping anyone. So
please, stop it and thank you for your understanding. Everyone will have to remain calm until Steet and I clean up this whole mess. Remember, everything is under control. Neither Skul, Lucario or Mighty were the trolls - that's for sure and we do have proofs and statistics. That's all I can tell you for now, the rest must remain confidential. Sorry. |
