oh god help me besties *becomes disabled for plot reasons*
Ben ain't no Scooby Doo. This guy is bold, powerful, and manages both those traits while living up to his breed's legacy as a race of gentle giants. This horse in dog's clothing maintains an admirably fatherly composure throughout his journeys, even when his eyesight bites the dust just in time to allow Gin to take his place. HOW VERY CONVENIENT THANK YOU ANIME VERY COOL. Anyway I think we could all stand to be a bit more like Ben.
It is SO hard to design a decent Great Dane who doesn't just look like a Scoobert or Marmaduke clone, aaaand I almost got it maybe lol. Ben's characteristically redder-then-normal fawn coat helped, as did his wooden bead collar. But the dude, like many other Ginga characters, is meant to be a stereotypical representation of his breed. I'm actually surprised Hougen and his brother ended up being harlequins given how banal Ben's design is. Oh man a fawn dane never seen onna those before hueheuhehegfeh
