It's a female bear who had two cubs with Akakabuto. She gave Gin his scars and she's also the first bear killed by Gin and Daisuke.

Daisuke and Gin meet this bear in the forest when they are out looking for Akakabuto. When she appears, Daisuke is frozen by fear and hides away, leaving the fight for Gin, but when he sees that Gin gets wounded, he pulls himself together and shots at the bear. Gin and Daisuke work together and eventually kill the bear. When she dies, Daisuke finds out that it was a bear mother who tried to protect her cubs. The cubs refused to leave their mother's dead body and get killed by John.
