Genba is Hougen's brother, he in the past was locked up in a cage with other dogs and left by his master. He and Hougen were the last survivors and they convinced the other dogs to eat each other in order to survive. He and his brother promised to each other that they'd always be their for one another and would only die by their brother's fangs. When Gajou is loosely guarded by a few Ou soldiers and Mel, Genba's army shows up and takes out the soldiers, leaving Mel to protect Gajou alone. While Genba's group is walking around, he spots Akame in the trees and sends his men afer him, but they can't catch the quick ninja dog.

The army shows up at Gajou after Kurotora and hs nephews arrive. Genba captures Shigure and knows his plan is to get more soldiers from Mutsu to fight for Ou. Shouji attacks Genba to free Shigure and Shouji gets killed by Genba. When Genba's soldiers suggest properly burying the Kai brother's for 'being real soldiers', he gets mad and throws the kai brothers's bodies into the river.
